Hi Sahib, over the last month or so, we have crossed each other's path on quite a few occassions. I am really impressed with the way you uphold the Wiki policies and would like to nominate you for Adminstratorship. Do let me know, whether you have any objections to this. Thanks. PAK urgent and northern areas

[edit]

hey i just wanted to tell you that a pov tag has been put on pakistans claim on tha PAK article which as you can read is only a few sentences while indias veiw uses strong words like invaders and is totally POV could you remove the POV tag from the pakistans veiw or add it to indias veiw aswell 86.154.149.34 (talk) 15:36, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to bother you again but excess content is being mashed into the introduction pages of PAK and northern areas page and editors like meco first agree on consensus then revert these pages please revert them to there stable version which everyone agreed on 86.156.208.40 (talk) 18:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If I have been inconsistent that is an issue I must look into. Sometimes I will make reverts not based on the merits of the changes and facts but merely on an assessment that the edit being made was disorderly. If an anonymous user makes sweeping changes without leaving a sober edit summary, chances are big I will revert this on sight without checking very closely the issue at hand. __meco (talk) 11:56, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rdrs to Dabs on other Dabs

[edit]

I thot you deserved a clearer explanation of the reversion of your Rdr bypassing on Palin: in general, Rdrs suffixed with "(disambiguation)" do not reflect past renames, but the need for a flag that editors will read as "don't go looking at the Dab page trying to figure out which article to bypass this link to; the intention of the lk is for interested readers to go examine the Dab page". When they appear on Dab pages, there is IMO an additional intention of following the principle of least astonishment. Thanks for you good work!

Karlugh Turks

[edit]

HI SAHIB I WAS READING THE ARTICLE ON THE TURKS OF BEHALI(THE KARLUGH TURKS) AND WANTED TO ASK YOU IF YOU'D EVER MET A TURK FROM THERE WHO SPOKE OR CLAIMED TO SPEAK TURKISH. ALSO, WOULD YOU HAVE ANY KNOWHOW ABOUT THE MUGHAL TRIBE THAT IS BASED IN PAKISTAN? THANKYOU(Mammadjaana (talk) 16:46, 21 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Salam sahib what are the origins of the different mughal tribes? My question is that how can pathans and Turks both be moghal at the same time? They both are different races, speak different languages and have different cultures. So how is it, that there is a pathan moghal and a Turk Moghal tribe at the same time?

Samma, Jamot, Sammaat

[edit]

I did some clean up recently on Samma, merging some duplicate articles and stubs on families that will never make full articles, and separating the history of the Samma Dynasty from the description of the Samma (tribe). I think the results are a bit better, but a long way from encyclopedia quality. Two things bother me:

  • I don't understand the relationship between Samma, Jam, Jamot and Sammaat, but suspect the articles get it wrong. Do you have any ideas on where to get clarification?
  • More fundamentally, the article on Samma (tribe) seems to be steadily growing, and I suspect may grow to huge size, as contributors add details on the location, language and notable people of their particular family. I see no harmful intent at all, and am extremely reluctant to edit out material that I have no reason to doubt, but none of the material is referenced and some of it does not seem to belong in a encyclopedia.

Any thoughts or advice? Aymatth2 (talk) 02:50, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all you have done pretty well to clean up the article, I think really though ultimately more refs are need. Pahari Sahib 11:26, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You missed my point, I think ... I predict that a year from now the article will have grown to include 47 sections, each a paragraph describing a different family and its prominent people, none of which will have any refs or be particularly notable, and will still be growing. But I am not going to lose sleep over it. Let it grow! Aymatth2 (talk) 16:27, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually when I said "ultimately more refs are need", I was kind of thinking that uncited stuff needs to be removed. I've done it before in other articles. Pahari Sahib 08:14, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the name of the tribe was McGregor, I would fully agree - be ruthless. The Scottish hill tribes are exhaustively documented and there is no reason or excuse for including unreferenced material. The Samma are just as important, so deserve the same depth of content, but they are not nearly as well documented, so I am more inclined to be lenient. On the other hand, this content is sort of trivial. Dunno. I will leave it to other editors. Aymatth2 (talk) 16:00, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you delete the notable people ?

[edit]

AssalamoAlikum,

I hope your fine and in the best of your health, I wonder why do you delete the notable people of Mansehra, if you have any problems in references, do let me know about it, I shall provide you with the best of detials.

References

[edit]

Wikipedia demands references, I have references to all the information being posted, we must all share the relative information, rather than delete them. So that people might know how much learned people from our area have been evolved.

Next time you delete anything, do give a reason to me, before deleting a specific portion, with reasons.

AssalamoAlikum :)
Thank you so much for replying to me and giving me the reason, sir I have been to different areas of Mansehra & what I was delighted to know that this area is blessed by ALLAH SUBHANA in alot of ways & alot of people in different areas of the world are serving in the fields of Religion, Medicine, Sports, Buisness & engineers. In short cover all aspect of life.
So I decided to collect some general data & provide here in the wikipedia, of those people who really are doing a good work for the Nation, I think its our Moral duty to support such personalities in the positive way, by telling the people that yes, our city along with the Blessings of Nature have produced people who have represented their fields.
Life is a very short time, my grandfather used to say, let us not waste any moment of life :)
Looking forward for more guidance :)

WikiProject?

[edit]

Hi there, do you know if there is a Princely States WikiProject? If not, it might be a good idea to have one, since many things probably need to be standardized. What do you think? Your renaming of Kashmir and Jammu suggests that there already are some standards or conventions. You might also want to weigh in at WP:FAR#Kingdom of Mysore if you have any interest. Circle Bakote

[edit]

Dear Paharhi Ji, Salam…………..I am Obaidullah Alvi very sorry to say that you disturbed Circle Bakote page without any knowledge and information and show your prejudice to other tribe. Wikipedia is a source of knowledge and only those information should be floated to readers those are correct and authentic. I spent my 20 years in studding the history; anthology and anthropology of Circle Bakote and you bulldozed all my efforts and research in a moment. I hope you contact me if you have any doubt of any information on abirotvi@yahoo.com

This is not prejudice, you are correct in saying "correct and authentic" information should be given to readers - but what is correct and authentic information, it needs to be correctly sourced (not to mention properly formatted). And who is this Paharhikhan - is that you? Not to mention the mysterious Paharhisahib2? Please see the Wikipedia:No original research. It's not just me - but other editors who have been reverting your edits. Pahari Sahib 08:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the Tanoli from the list at Rawalpindi District because their article explains that they are not pashtuns with reliable sources, and one editor has been POV pushing that they are Pashtun. --Enric Naval (talk) 00:23, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops my mistake for some reason I thought I was removing these groups! Sorry. Pahari Sahib 11:55, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Tola Bhangi Khel, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Paikhel. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Aryan Invasion/Migration Theories

[edit]

Hi Pahari, You have reverted my minor edit on qualifying the Aryan Invasion/Migration theories as debated. The wiki link that I had quoted had several further references re the debate. Could you clarify what form of references are you looking for in the qualification comment, if wiki article is not good enough.

Okay :-) I have amended this to include the alternative viewpoint, I have also made the link an internal one not an external ref.

Zia uk Haq

[edit]

Please note that that Movement for Restoration of Democracy is an undeniable historical fact which is well recorded and documented that could be found in a no of newspapers of the time, historical books and current affairs reviews of those days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Graduate1983 (talkcontribs) 23:04, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why not edit Movement for the Restoration of Democracy then? Pahari Sahib 23:06, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay a couple of points, first of all
  • I reverted as the previous edits were a little messy and unsourced.
  • If you want to add sources try using <ref>
  • I am no fan of the man - but the name's "Zia ul Haq" not "Zia uk Haq"
  • Try to avoid emotive language such as "brutally" unless quoting from a reliable source.

Indian bias on Urdu article

[edit]

Hi Pahari, can you please protect the Urdu article? ( I do not know how to protect articles) I don't know why, but I have seen the urdu article continously getting vandalised by multiple users who seem to put in their own unconstructive and unneccessary edits, a majority of which are Indian bias. Just have a read of the Urdu article right now, and you will understand what I mean. Apparently, some Indian user has now tried to put "India" in front of Pakistan in order sequence every where, even the table etc, which is quite unneccessary. Also read the history of the page, and you'll see continous forms of vandalisms. I really think that it is getting irritating now.

Thanks, 124.187.43.183 (talk) 04:18, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't protect the article, only admins can do that, I have edited though so the number of speakers are listed in order. Oh and just to add I couldn't really find any real bias (other than changing the order or words) while (briefly) looking at the edit history - could you give an example?
