Should this case be added?

[edit]

I was wondering if these case, the murder of Karen Kahler (and her grandmother and daughters) should be added to the list. Karen Kahler, her grandmother and her daughters were murdered by James Kahler, Karen's husband because she began a relationship with Sunny Reese, another woman. https://www.cjonline.com/story/news/politics/state/2011/08/17/witness-she-urged-wife-divorce-kahler/16459693007/ 38.172.129.148 (talk) 00:35, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion criteria

[edit]

I see this has come up a few times on the talk page, but without much progress. Is the list tacked onto the end of the article supposed to cover people attacked for being LGBT, or anyone who is LGBT that was the victim of violence, or any violence that may have been motivated by anti-LGBT sentiment? Right now it seems to cover anything that is LGBT related, 'broadly construed'. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:38, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOTALIST should apply. Agree all of these are tragedies, but we shouldn't be a list for every single news report that comes in of a hate crime. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 23:35, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think a good place to start is with only notable (in the Wikipedia sense) incidents with articles about the event or an involved party. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:09, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that only notable events should be described or listed textually in this article. WP:WEIGHT means this can't be a collection of unrelated non-notable events. WP:RS is still the correct metric. But ideally that's worked out on the 1E article before it comes to a topic article like this. JFHJr () 00:24, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with above comments. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:22, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Any 'inclusion criteria' should start with compliance to WP:BLP policy. And frankly, I'm appalled that this has to be said. I found four blatant violations of WP:BLP in ten minutes or so - all asserting as fact that named living individuals had carried out acts of violence, supported only by sources stating that allegations had been made, and/or the individual had been charged. There are no circumstances where this is even remotely acceptable. AndyTheGrump (talk) 00:26, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's another reason to stick to notable events. It'll trim the list down to something manageable. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:28, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Yngvadottir, sorry for the unrelated request, but I really appreciated what you fixed somewhere else. If you have the time and inclination consider the list contents at this article could probably benefit from something similar. I'm short on time these days, but I'm watching it and I'll get to it later if you're not so inclined. Cheers! JFHJr () 03:18, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
