The result of the discussion was redirect to Template:Cite compare. (non-admin closure) --Trialpears (talk) 21:49, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template substantially similar to {{cite compare}}, the behavior of which more closely matches now after some edits I have made today. Izno (talk) 13:52, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - while the recent changes to {{Cite compare}} help, they don't completely replace {{Cite compare2}}'s functionality: there's still no way to only show the comparison between the wikitext and the live version, and nothing else. If that functionality were added to {{Cite compare}} (not by default, of course, but as an optional parameter), then {{Cite compare2}} can be removed. Both templates are used in nuanced conditions & discussions, and the introduction of the unnecessary 'Sandbox' line complicates the intent of {{Cite compare2}}'s use: to focus on the comparison b/w wikitext input & live output, not a potentially different, error-ridden, or error-free, sandbox.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  14:50, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    @Tom.Reding: Both the sandbox and old lines were hideable in the old version (sandbox by default and old by parameter). I have re-included the ability to hide the sandbox line by setting |nosandbox=. --Izno (talk) 17:29, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Izno: looks good, thank you!   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  19:38, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
