Wikipedia:Meetup/Canberra 1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Embrace the daylight savings - Canberra will have a meetup on Saturday, 10 November at 2:30pm at the Old Parliament House Cafe

Attendees will probably include:

add any suggestions or comments in the discussion

With this number of people, perhaps it would be wise to book a table?

I am happy to do this if there is a concensus Stellar 10:27, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So - what happened?

[edit]

I am curious - will there be a write up?--Golden Wattle talk 05:39, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We ended up with about eight or ten of us in total, meeting in the courtyard at Old Parliament House. Sat around and talked for a couple of hours, had a bit of wine - 'twas lovely. Interesting mix of people, too. We raised the idea of doing another one in January or February. It was also suggested that we might get the Canberra collaboration going again, which would be great if we could get it back off the ground. Rebecca 05:45, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ooops! Looks like I was out by a week. Drat. I've been saving up likely books to give away. Oh well, next time, if someone reminds me. --Pete (talk) 02:15, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There were no journalists, no photo, and no booking. There were two tables. Discussion included copyright, pictures, arguments online, our interests, a new featured article workup, wikimedia and wikimania, and some discovered connections in real life. Oh nicely summarised Graeme! Sterry2607 (talk) 01:38, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

[edit]

Hi everybody. I'll be there in spirit but not in person. I'll be overseas at the time. It would have been nice to have been able to attend. I hope you all have a nice meetup. -- Adz|talk 00:48, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all. Thanks for the invite, but i'll be out of the country then. Khing 11:52, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey guys, thank you very much for the invite but i will be refereeing at the Veteran's Shield Soccer Competition. Maybe next time? Cheers! Drizzt Jamo 02:01, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to come but unfortunately have a commitment for the whole day... hopefully next time though! Tim 01:00, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - unfortunately I will be at the coast this weekend Regards--Golden Wattle talk 21:03, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, for some reason I read the day of this meeting to be Sunday and not Saturday. I hope it went well. --Nick Dowling 09:45, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry you missed it Nick. About 10 Canberra Wikipedians made it - and the weather held out so we could enjoy sitting outside under the OPH Gazebo. Anyhow, we decided we'd like to meet again so one of us - you, if you like! - will suggest another gathering in the new year. Hope you can make it then. Sterry2607 12:19, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arrgh. Sorry. This "went by to the keeper". I just went to my Talk page and found it. Please keep me informed of the next event.- Peter Ellis - Talk 20:09, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello badge

[edit]

Hi, guys. I designed a WikiHelloBadge for the Nov 2007 NYC Meetup for anyone who wants to use it, so if people at other Meetups want to use it, feel free. The design is supposed to represent Wikipedians of every possible persuasion, at least symbolically. I made it a double image so that when you print it out, you can fold it in the middle and laminate it so that's it's double-sided (if you plan on hanging it instead of clipping it). I included spaces so that you can identify yourself by your real name, or your Wiki Username, or both, whichever you feel comfortable with. A high-res version of it is on its upload page. And if someone wants to use it at a Meetup in a location where a language other than English is spoken, feel free to modify the greeting into a different language! After all, it's in the public domain now, so all I ask is attribution! Cheers! Nightscream 17:06, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
