I commend you for combating anti-French sentiment wherever it appears on English Wikipedia. ;) At the same time, I did read with not a little bemusement a lot of perplexing articles in Le Monde about Obama and racism in the United States. At the end of the day, one thing is certain: all of our countries have some work to do, and I certainly agree with you that it doesn't do us any good to point fingers at each other (other than to assuage our own nationalistic anxieties). --TimothyDexter (talk) 06:38, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Le Monde does it as well, but it deals much more with racism in France : astonishing as it is, the sorts of things the journalist of Maghrebi origin Mustapha Kessous say is similar to what you can hear in the ghetto : "White man" (they actually say "French") is synonymous with racist; the contributors are only too pleased to publish those articles which allow them to champion the fight against racism. I doubt whether it would be acceptable in the UK. The absence of patriotism in France is - in my opinion - an advantage against dicrimination that British and American people do not have. Moreover I don't disagree with you.
I would only add that there is no sense of "Britain for the British" or "France pour les Français" in the United States, since we're all immigrants (save the natives). :) --TimothyDexter (talk) 21:26, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely right. But the phrase is : "La France aux Français". The only persons I heard saying it were skinheads, yet some "more ordinary" people must think it. In the USA, you're all immigrants; in France, according to the president himself, one person out of three has a grandparent born abroad with a foreign nationality. - I wonder if an article about patriotism in France would be of any interest on this Wiki and I'd like your opinion.
