Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]
Thank you for your recent submission to Articles for Creation. Your article submission has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. Please view your submission to see the comments left by the reviewer. You are welcome to edit the submission to address the issues raised, and resubmit once you feel they have been resolved.

The article Attentio has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Single reference to a Press Release authored by company itself does not satisfy the independent reliable sources criteria for mainspace articles.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Grace Sai, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Possible COI re: Martin Roll

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Tobiastan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Martin Roll, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.

In particular, in this edit, you said both that the image is "copyrighted by Martin Roll Company Pte Ltd in Singapore", and also that "I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby publish it under the following licenses...". This obviously implies that you personally are in a position to legally act as the Martin Roll Company Pte Ltd in Singapore. If so, then this clearly raises a concern that you may have a COI re: Martin Roll. Please can you clarify the situation and WP:PING me in your reply.

Thanks, Zazpot (talk) 22:42, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Zazpot
I know of Mr. Roll through the INSEAD eco-system, but I have not been asked by him or his company to create this page, I am not taking instructions from him and I am not compensated in any way and I have never ever received or asked for compensation when creating WikiPedia articles. I try, to the best of my abilities, to create neutral, encyclopaedic entries but I am by no means a professional editor. I reached out to Mr. Roll and asked if he had a picture, and since he does not know how to upload a picture, I offered to do it for him.
WP:PING You ask me to WP:PING but I do not know how to do this....
Tobias Tan (talk) 15:21, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Tobiastan:, thanks for this information. I have updated the image metadata and the "files for discussion" thread accordingly.
I appreciate your good intentions, but please understand that, as Wikipedians, we must be very careful not to migrate copyrighted works into Wikipedia or its sister projects such as Wikimedia Commons, without verifiable (ideally, publicly verifiable) evidence of permission to do so, e.g. in the form of a compatible free (as in "freedom") content license. To do otherwise would be to put Wikipedia or its editors at risk of lawsuits from the holders of the copyrights concerned.
Also, in general, if you have a connection to the subject of a Wikipedia article, do please check the guidance at WP:COI to determine whether, and if so how, to disclose that connection, and also to determine what restrictions that guidance places upon how or whether you should edit the article.
I appreciate that Wikipedia can seem like a minefield, sorry. Please understand that the rules and guidelines that exist were arrived at painstakingly, and are usually present for extremely good reasons. As one becomes more familiar with them, and especially with the reasoning behind them, editing becomes easier. I hope you won't be put off by your experience so far, and that I will see you around Wikipedia again in the future. I wish you the best, Zazpot (talk) 18:49, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Martin Roll

[edit]

Hello, Tobiastan,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Martin Roll should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Martin Roll .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Tobiastan. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

June 2019

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Tobiastan. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Tobiastan. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Tobiastan|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. David Gerard (talk) 07:01, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have never been paid or will never seek to be paid for my contributions or edits on Wikipedia. As you will see, I am doing various edits for pages connected with the Singapore entrepreneurial ecosystem and I am always attempting to write in a neutral style and with claims supported by editorial articles. If you find anything I write to not be supported by fact and not from a neutral point of view, please let me know.
