Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my talk and user pages. Just returning the favor, I suppose. Thanks, Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:40, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

And thank you for the reverts on my userpage as well! --Wikitoov (talk) 21:41, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad to help out in both cases. Yes, Eagles, you've done the same for me many times (including today) so I'm ready to step in when needed. Thanks to both of you for letting me know you didn't mind me butting in. Tiderolls 22:28, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Question

Where do i express my opinions on this site

where do i express my opinions on this site ? is that right? --> 66.225.164.138 (talk) 00:32, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Are you asking where to express your opinion regarding Wikipedia or where to post your opinions on content in Wikipedia? Tiderolls 00:35, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Unintended Wiki edit

I got a message that I had made a useless edit to a Wiki page. I looked -- it seems a teenager mistook a Wiki edit page for a chat window. I will explain the error to prevent its recurrence.

Sorry for the disruption, 70.174.137.8 (talk) 02:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Believe me, it gets old quick. Tiderolls 00:00, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
It kind of makes me angry. --Tommy (msg) 00:02, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Hey, if you need a break I would understand. It's better to take a break than burn out or blow up. I've been both places. Tiderolls 00:03, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I'm fine, it's just shocking. I just tell myself that we're dealing with 13 year olds and that they'll grow up. hopefully. --Tommy (msg) 00:05, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
They will..it's unavoidable. When you have a chance to see someone develop into a useful contributor it makes your day, though. It's rare but it happens. Tiderolls 00:07, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
This makes me smile. Tommy (msg) 00:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Randomness

hello —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.73.150.4 (talk) 00:13, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

No worries

You didn't do anything wrong, thanks for reverting the talkpage vandalism. Burpelson AFB (talk) 01:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

FYI you reverted back to a previous vandal version.[1] There were two vandal editors in a row. Ty 01:30, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I saw the cites in the IP's edits and (since huggle doesn't show the entire article) I didn't see the flip-flop of the text. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Tiderolls 01:33, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi Tide rolls. Many thanks for deleting the vandalism from my user page. Pinethicket (talk) 09:02, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Anytime. I appreciate that you have done the same for me. See ya 'round Tiderolls 10:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I didn't edit the page 'women in the victorian era'. Thanks 81.157.138.135 (talk) 23:01, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Do you live in Reading?

Apparently you have no clue about what Reading is like? The edit was not Un-constructive at all. and keeping someone from adding to wiki, is like obliterating free speech. the "Hispanicazation section should be removed, because it is Un-Constructive and only supports an agenda. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.115.0.184 (talk) 03:00, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia is a private website, so editing is a privilege and not a right. There exists no "free speech" as such here. Thanks for your polite message Tiderolls 03:11, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Television program / international view

Hi Tide rolls, for some reason my yesterday's contribution to Television program was deleted very quickly by User:Ckatz, although I was adding a more international perspective and the article's first references ever (both asked for in the article's banner and discussion). I am not very sure, if you have also been involved in this rv decision? If so, could you please have a second review? You will find the passage "archived" on my User page. Many thanks and best regards, Mentalmoses (talk) 17:19, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Mentalmoses. I regret to say that my only involvement with Television program was to revert some rather sophomoric content that was defacing the article mainspace. Therefore, I don't believe my review would be of much assistance to you. I see you have contacted User:Ckatz and, though I have never interacted with them personally, they appear to be a knowledgable and sincere editor. Ckatz's time and service here tells me that they would be able to help you craft your content so that it would be acceptable. I apologize for not offering more substantial assistance, but I do appreciate your polite message and wish you well in your endeavors on Wikipedia. Regards Tiderolls 19:51, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Dear Tide rolls, thank you very much for your quick response! I am full of hope and will be patiently waiting for User:Ckatz... All the best for you, Mentalmoses (talk) 19:58, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Woogee Is In Violation of Vandalism

This user Woogee has no purpose on Wikipedia other to make trouble. His edits are in violation of vandalism and he should be removed.

Bsfanatic1 (talk) 20:52, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Geez, I hope you're wrong about User:Woogee. Either way, there's not much I can do as I'm just an editor here like everyone else. Maybe if you could provide a diff or two illustrating your concerns...I'll take a look, anyway. Regards Tiderolls 20:57, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

As you see, an editor has removed your message. I'm sure one of the reasons is touched on in my reply which was edit conflicted:

Thanks for the extra information. First, don't let your frustration lead you to abandon the assumption of good faith. Words like "vandalism", "foul play" and "maliciously removing" are to be confined to circumstances that are not content disputes. I have not checked the edits to which you refer (yet) because one cannot add copyrighted text into articles. I don't have to look at the specific edits as you have not denied that the text is copyrighted. I do not doubt your identity, per se, but to release the copyright you must contact Wikpedia and prove your identity. Even then, I'm not sure that the text can or should be added....that is simply the first step. Also, there is the matter of your conflict of interest. This a completely different set of obstacles that would present themselves on proof of your identity. Please read the links I have provided and if you have any more questions or need more information, please message me. Regards Tiderolls 21:43, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Barnstar

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
You do a great job fighting vandalism on Wikipedia. Please come to your senses and let someone nominate you for adminship; it wouldn't hurt to have certain vandals blocked even faster. Whatever the case, keep up the great work! Ajraddatz (Talk) 23:22, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Honestly, you should really allow yourself to be nominated. I don't need to give the whole "admins are no better than other users" speech to you, because you know that, however you should also know that it doesn't hurt to give dedicated, mature users these tools. Anyways, not much else to say other than that. Have a great day. Ajraddatz (Talk) 23:22, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I consider myself dedicated and God knows I'm mature (chronologically, anyway). Answer this; do you feel that there is a serious lag at AIV? I haven't noticed one myself. We have just seen User:Excirial and User:Elockid promoted and User:Barek is most likely to be promoted soon. Those editors are very knowledgable and dedicated vandalism experts (in addition to their other editing abilities). Added to the regular admins that monitor AIV, I have confidence that AIV is effectively staffed. When I feel that I am restricted in the contribution I can make without extra tools I will seek out a nomination. I've said this before, but I am sincere when I say that your confidence in me, as well as the confidence that others have expressed, means more to me than being an administrator. And thanks for the barnstar :) See ya 'round Tiderolls 00:26, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I saw your name come up on the above-linked page. I began to wonder "Is Tide rolls a reincarnation of RickK?" I hope you can answer my question. Hamtechperson 01:17, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I can answer. I'm me, not him (or her...probably him, though). Tiderolls 01:24, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh well, Wishful thinking, I suppose. You are a University of Alabama Fan, am I incorrect? Hamtechperson 01:37, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
You are correct. Roll Tide Tiderolls 01:38, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello there, you reverted my change to this article. Can you explain why you think the change was unconstructive? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.173.8.101 (talk) 23:20, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your message but I have not edited 'Cotton', nothing to do with me--Jimmydenham (talk) 21:57, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

I don't see where I've ever left you a message. In fact, it appears your user talk has not been edited since Christmas. If there has been some misunderstanding on my part I apologize. Regards Tiderolls 00:25, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

hello,

why are you deleting my posts?

earl of iddesleigh

i don't feel that the edit was unconstructive, i thought that the revision was informative.

Informative or not, the fact asserted in your edit was not supported by a reliable source. If you were to find such a source and cite it properly, I believe the content would be deleted due to its lack of notability. Regards Tiderolls 18:06, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Excuse me Tide Rolls, but do you think that this article should be protected becausse of all the recent edits? --Nascar1996 18:37, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

It seems the IP's may have moved on, but I'd say go for it if you'd like. Tiderolls 18:39, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok. --Nascar1996 18:41, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: 50 State Scares

Hello Tide rolls. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on 50 State Scares to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 20:33, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

No worries. I thought about prodding myself until I checked the reference. Regards Tiderolls 20:36, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes. I reckon "hoax" requires intent to deceive, and it looks as if they do actually plan these books. I thought about G11 spam, but it's fairly neutrally written. I've PRODded the first book's article as well. See you at the AfD, probably... JohnCD (talk) 20:46, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm thinking you have a point re: ..."actually plan these books." As contribs go, it's fairly harmless so there's no hurry that I can see. Thanks for letting me in on your thinking. Tiderolls 20:50, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Genre

We're editing the Genre page for a class project. In it's current state it's a mess. We've made a new page for "Lists of Genres" so we're removing the list of genres on the genre page as it is redundant.

You're going about it incorrectly. I see no replacement, only deletions. Assuming good faith I won't interfere, but you need to make good on your statement. Regards Tiderolls 22:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for catching the vandalism on my user page. Keith D (talk) 11:39, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
