[edit]

South Sudan isn't a sovereign state yet, the date for the Declaration of Independence is 9th July 2011, five months and two days to go yet. Just letting you know, I just think some of your edits are premature. Regards IJA (talk) 21:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Ginat.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Ginat.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:59, 12 February 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey (talk) 11:59, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I took it down. Cheers! Theseus1776 (talk) 02:34, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Republican Party of Texas

[edit]

Hi, could you explain to me why you reverted my edit to the infobox at Republican Party of Texas? Some parts of the infobox don't work in the current version, that's the primary reason why I changed it. Also, you should provide an explanation when you undo other people's edits. Svick (talk) 15:26, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair, however you need to include the student wing of the party in the info box. Is there anyway to change the current edition to include that? I am new to Wikipedia, so I apologize for not explaining myself fully. Theseus1776 (talk) 15:49, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't notice that the student wing was missing. For some reason, {{Infobox American political party}} names the parameter studentwing, while {{Infobox political party}} calls it student_wing. I have fixed this in the article. Svick (talk) 18:46, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Young Conservatives of Texas, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.techyct.org/about.php.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Third opinion requested

[edit]

Theseus1776, if you could please provide a third opinion on merging article Eastern Michigan University. I have done a lot of review on universities templates and looking at other school page setups. I feel that having a separate student life page Eastern Michigan University student life is not needed given other large universities don't even carry separate pages. As well, I compared the article with universities that are listed on Wiki universities and a good examples is Florida State University The article was merged with the main page. Please provide a third opinion if this "student life" page is needed. I would appreciate your expertise. Pwojdacz (talk) 06:00, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:RPT Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:RPT Logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 20:46, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lawrence Kennedy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Lawrence Kennedy, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Nomination of Lawrence Kennedy for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Lawrence Kennedy is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lawrence Kennedy until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:17, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Lawrence Kennedy

[edit]

Hi there, tha ms for your message. I've taken a look at Lawrence Kennedy's AfD and given my opinion - a weak keep vote. I think that, if you want to ensure the article is kept, you need to find a really strong referene to Kennedy, something like an academic reference or major news outlet. That should establish notability, if one exists. ItsZippy (talk) 21:27, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is what I don't understand: I have linked articles from major news outlets which explicitly mention Kennedy, and from other organizations. I have provided his chairitable works with at least 5 articles supporting them. I have provided his association with Church on the Rock. I have provided his academic associations, which you seem to discount. And have provided his mentioning in a major American folk figure's autobiography. Oh, and I supplied his reference in a major seminary, which provided evidence of his being the pastor of a large mega-church. What else do you need?Theseus1776 (talk) 13:47, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shortcut tags

[edit]

Hi, I just reverted about 5 shortcut tags you added to multiple articles. I believe you may have misunderstood how shortcuts are to be used on Wikipedia, as the usage was not in line with how they are normally used. You can read more about proper shortcut usage here: Wikipedia:Shortcut. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:38, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Five Points of Remonstrance requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Arminianism Portal

[edit]

I've not changed any of the pages you've updated today, but I'm just wondering why you're going around to a lot of Calvinist churches/individuals and tagging them for the Arminianism Portal. I happen to be neither, so it's not that I have an axe to grind - just curiosity.--Lyonscc (talk) 18:44, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did notice that, too. It seems that the Calvinist portal link would be more appropriate for some of those pages (I added it to Albert Mohler after you put the Arminianism one on it, though I left yours in place). --Philosopher Let us reason together. 09:02, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They advocate some issues that are important to Arminianism, and they also are a part of a greater debate within Protestantism. I just thought it was appropriate.Theseus1776 (talk) 15:32, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying you're wrong, just that you might want to consider dropping the Calvanism one on there too. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 15:42, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's completely inappropriate actually. The only time it would be appropriate it if a person is known for addressing Arminianism (either for or against). Many writers affirm Calvinism without particularly addressing Arminianism. StAnselm (talk) 09:08, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

December 2011

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. GimliDotNet (talk) 17:50, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Lance Kennedy has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deletion discussion about Lance Kennedy

[edit]

Hello, Theseus1776, and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that some editors are discussing at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lance Kennedy whether the article Lance Kennedy should be in Wikipedia. I encourage you to comment there if you think the article should be kept in the encyclopedia.

The deletion discussion doesn't mean you did something wrong. In fact, other editors may have useful suggestions on how you can continue editing and improving Lance Kennedy, which I encourage you to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the Help Desk.

Thanks again for your contributions! GimliDotNet (talk) 18:08, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome mate, no problem. You're not really supposed to ask people as such, a Laissez-faire approach is preferred. I suggest just asking people who have edited the article recently (through the article history), that they're invited to the AfD discussion. Regards IJA (talk) 19:08, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Canvassing warning

[edit]

Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on others' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Lance Kennedy. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. February 2012

[edit]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Texas College Republicans. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:45, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Texas College Republicans, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:45, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Texas College Republicans, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. You removed a reliable source tag regarding a citation that was to a blog. Kindly review the material at reliable sources so you can learn what is a reliable source on Wikipedia. More specifically, the section WP:USERGENERATED should be particularly informative to you regarding the reliability of blogs for usage on Wikipedia. Post a note here for some assistance with the article. – Lionel (talk) 07:44, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Henrik Asheim

[edit]

Hello Theseus1776. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Henrik Asheim, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: If notability is an issue then AFD is more appropriate -the test at cpeedy deletion is purposely lower than notability. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 17:06, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just so you know I've declined your speedy deletion requests for: Ove Vanebo, Sveinung Rotevatn, Dennis Mikolay, David Collison and Jake Zychick because notability isn't a valid reason to delete an article using the speedy deletion criteria. All these articles gave a credible claim of importance which means that you can only delete them as "not-notable" through proposed deletion or listing them under Articles for deletion.--Mrmatiko (talk) 19:18, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What did you think about the deletion notice you received?

[edit]

Hi Theseus1776,

In December you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchuk@wikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! Nominate the Texas College Democrats template and I won't contest. You've proven yourself to be a completely biased editor. Prove me wrong.

template:College Republicans

[edit]

In general a template needs 5 links to be viable. A good source for links is in the cat for the article. In this case category:College Republicans. However there isn't much there to populate a template. On the other hand, this List of chairpersons of the College Republicans/Category:College Republican National Committee chairs might make a good template. – Lionel (talk) 07:48, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think that is fair, however a certain editor consistently stalks my edits and does not make corresponding ones. In this case he nominates the GOP template for deletion but doesn't ever edit its counterpart, the Texas College Democrats template. He has done this time and time again and has proven to be a biased editor. I have added more links, would you be so kind as to say this meets the minimum requirements for viability? Theseus1776 (talk) 16:34, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe that's because there is no Texas College Democrats template? --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 16:50, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:College_Democrats_of_America Theseus1776 (talk) 16:52, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sarek my friend, you should've seen that one coming! Novice: 1, Senior Editor III/Admin: 0.(Preceeding was good natured ribbing)

Theseus, be careful about the WP:STALK allegations. Is he really a stalker, or just a gadfly? If the former take him to ANI. If the latter, look on the bright side--it'll make you a better editor. That said it does appear that a 2nd opinion would be of tremendous value in some of your editing challenges. For neutral and impartial advice (Sarek get ready) you should really post a message at the (here it comes): WikiProject Conservatism noticeboard The members there are the (shameless promotion follows) most knowledgeable and experienced editors in the entire Wiki. While you're there, why not join? (click to join).

Regarding the template, what I was thinking was scrapping {{College Republicans}} and creating {{Chairpersons of the College Republicans}} and adding all of the names. Anyway, now that I've seen what you've done, I think adding all of the chair names to College Reps would work too.– Lionel (talk) 02:13, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of Chairpersons of Texas College Republicans has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not sufficiently notable to justify a stand-alone article.

The article Church on the Rock International has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only reliable sources in article are about Larry Lea, not this organization. Larry Lea already has a separate article. It appears that this organization is not notable as there is not significant reliable source coverage of this organization to establish notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
