Don't be discouraged...

[edit]

Yes, I have jumped on a couple of your edits. But, instead of getting upset or discouraged, try to see why I reverted. If you see my own Talk page you'll see I've been critisised and reverted many times too. All the best, and happy editing! - Snori (talk) 08:21, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Moved draft

[edit]

Hi! I moved your page back to your sandbox. The article looks like it was partially notes and partially an article - I didn't want to delete the notes offhand.

My recommendation would be for you to copy/paste the material to User:Simhhyena/Privacy concerns with virtual assistants and work on the draft there. Offhand I do have some notes for you:

  • The draft has a big issue with original research, as a lot of the content is written as your own personal claims and research based on the sourcing. With Wikipedia we can only summarize what has already been explicitly stated in reliable sources. We can't draw new conclusions or include anything that isn't already specifically in the sourcing. For example, if a source describes something that sounds an awful lot like a cat, we can't say that the source is describing a cat or even summarize the source as saying that it's describing something like a cat. The article should also be written in an encyclopedic, neutral tone - avoid POV terms or writing that is too casual in tone.
  • All claims must be backed up with reliable sources. Avoid using studies unless you have an independent, reliable secondary or tertiary source. The reason for this is that studies are primary sources for any of the claims and research created by its author(s) and haven't been vetted or put into a larger context. The journal that publishes them does do some basic checking, but ultimately doesn't provide the type of verification and context that something like a secondary or tertiary source would. Also, studies are very limited by necessity, as they can't interview every person or check every conceivable option in every scenario - they have to set limits for the sake of their research and funding. This is where the secondary or tertiary sources come in handy, as they can take a look at the research in a broader scenario.
  • This primarily focuses on Alexa and Siri - keep in mind that there are multiple virtual assistants out there that use different formats. I'm also concerned that the scope of this article would be redundant to internet privacy unless this is very carefully sourced and written. My recommendation would be to work on creating a subsection in the main article for virtual assistants that focuses on privacy concerns.

These are the main issues I saw - I really recommend summarizing the main issues with privacy and creating a subsection as opposed to a new article at this point in time. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:45, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Relational transgression, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Implicit (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A page you started (Virtual assistant privacy) has been reviewed!

[edit]

Thanks for creating Virtual assistant privacy.

I have just reviewed the page, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

Thanks for your informative new article on Virtual assistant privacy. Note that while I am strongly pro-privacy myself, I would not be surprised if other readers find it slanted in favor of privacy by design. You might want to reconsider some statements on that sub-topic (e.g. "Fail-safe"), because privacy by design is not shown to be totally reliable in this article's prose. Also note that the article is currently an "orphan" meaning that no other Wikipedia articles link TO it. See WP:DE-ORPHAN for pointers.
