Don't move long time articles into draft space just because a source is dead. Follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Link rot. I have fixed the dead reference. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:49, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sanjay Saint moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Sanjay Saint, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. GSS💬 18:09, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for notifying. Will look in to it!

Palmsandbeaches (talk) 03:46, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, GSS💬! Your note made me read more on WP:NACADEMIC and I researched more to add few other stuff which I didn't add first. So this doc seem to have more than 30,000 citations on Google Scholar and more than 25,000 at researchagee. I did a quick check and the published work seems to be with relevant journals etc. So it satisfies the criteria 1. He is also the member of American Society for Clinical Investigation through an election. So I wondered if it also fits criteria 3 (even though satisfying criteria 1 should already be enough). So this society ain't very old which questions the prestige. But quick search on Google Scholar throws out a lot of published work - which has been given as a way to measure the relevance of a society.

Even if we ignore criteria 3 and since this subject fulfils criteria 1, do you think it is now ready to be submitted and accepted?

Speedy deletion nomination of SUGAR Cosmetics

[edit]

Hello Palmsandbeaches,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged SUGAR Cosmetics for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to David Adler (entrepreneur). Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Greyjoy talk 09:32, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Greyjoy! Thanks for dropping by and letting me know about it. I will be more careful. I usually remove link (or related info) if I feel that those were temporary (maybe even paid) releases to promote a particular page. But like I said, will be more careful for sure! While we are at David Adler (entrepreneur), I even wanted to nominate for AFD but wasn't 100 percent confident. What would you suggest?

Palmsandbeaches (talk) 11:17, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removing links because they were paid or promotional is fine, my comment was primarily in the two edits with summaries regarding dead links.
I am guessing that your reasoning behind wanting to AFD it is you believe it does not meet notability requirements? I just had a quick look through the references and some do appear to be brief mentions. I can see how you would be a bit on the fence about nominating it, but in the end it is your call. As long as it is done in good faith I cannot see the harm in nominating an article for AFD, either editors agree and the article is removed or they disagree and it remains, no harm done. My apologies for the delayed response, in future it would be quickest if you ping me so I am notified of your response. Greyjoy talk 05:28, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Greyjoy! No need to apologize! Thank you for your detailed and unbiased view on this. Whenever I nominate for AFD, I remain cognizant of the fact that the other editors would have to invest time in that - and hence I feel responsible for it! I guess I will do some more study before I nominate this one! Once again, thanks a ton!

Hey! How are you doing? I just noticed it and while it is slightly disheartening since recreation was done while in discussion with the nominating editor of deletion; what you are saying still kind of makes sense! Thanks for your time on this!

Palmsandbeaches (talk) 05:37, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vrikshit Foundation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DMySon 13:14, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Far too many of the pages you have created or moved into mainspace are either previous UPE articles, COI articles or recreations of UPE or COI articles. MER-C 11:10, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! What just happened! I just saw this and can't believe this! Yes, I have moved a lot of pages from draft space since I was working on this category of pages [1]. My objective was to revise and improve as many drafts as possible and make them available to be read by the users of Wikipedia! While I have been thinking that I have been doing a noble job, I sort of can't believe this has been done!

The other category that I worked extensively on was [2] - where I extensively removed unsourced info and improved drafts! I am shocked that after such constructive editing for so long (which includes nominating pages for deletions and having a great track record there too), I am seeing this.

In fact, just today I was learning how to use twinkle and exploring further to do more work! I hope you see that your judgment here is slightly misguided and revert your action! Thanks for your time on this!

Palmsandbeaches (talk) 12:37, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't convincing at all. Why did you choose to write about Sanjay Saint, SUGAR Cosmetics (twice) and Bashar Bizrah? After paying closer attention to some of the other articles you have created, I am now certain that this is UPE and therefore oppose an unblock. MER-C 16:53, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I found all of them in the requested articles section. SUGAR Cosmetics was created again after consulting with the deleting administrator who confirmed that it was marginally notable and I could create it again. Nonetheless, all I wanted to do was use my time to do something useful during my sabbatical before I go for my masters in public health. I still think I learned a lot of new things and did something good. You have a blessed day ahead and I express my gratitude and thank you for all you do here on this platform! I will sign off! Request reason:

I have been blocked because I moved many drafts to mainspace that have COI/UPE history. When I started, I wondered how contribute constructively and started improving pages that had notability issues. I usually found them here [3]. It was a great learning exercise and I either improved articles and removed the notability tag or I proposed them for deletion. I think out of 30 pages I nominated, only 2-3 were kept/merged. Rest were all successful deletions.

After that, I realized I can do more constructive editing by improving pages that are in drafts and hence have potential and move them to main space. This was also great and I felt I was doing a good job. In between, I created/edited articles on topics that I think were worthy/notable. Honestly, I never even checked if they were moved because of COI/UPE reasons! A lot many of them were also simply moved because they lack sources etc.

Then I started improving articles that were tagged as paid - removing unsourced info, improving neutrality etc - which, again I thought was very construvtive. I can't understand why working on many such articles, improving them would award me a block. However, if that is a problem indeed - I will not edit such pages and find other ways to continue contributing constructively. Thanks!

Palmsandbeaches (talk) 12:53, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. signed, Rosguill talk 23:54, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain this? All these people are on the same IP address as you. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 14:37, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I am not sure how this tool works - but I keep moving and edit from various places (my home, various cafes I go, sometimes airports etc) and even use my phone internet sometimes. Hence, a lot of times I am using internet connections that are public connection or my phone hotspot connections that show common network IP I think.

Palmsandbeaches (talk) 15:06, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at this via the tool as well. There seems to be more to this than just "on the same IP". There seems to be significant overlap in what device is used as well. SQLQuery me! 23:23, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
