Great North Road

[edit]

Hi Mnb20, having seen your second attempt, I realise I was perhaps a little hasty in my original reversion; I could have just changed the first occurrence of "motorway" to "new formation" or "upgraded section", which would have kept things in roughly chronological order.

You did, however, prompt me to grasp the nettle that, apart from bypasses, the current route of the A1 deviates from the old Great North Road in its original 1921 designation, as well as some new motorway sections, which is also why I still think that the Great North Road should be split out of the current article. Thanks; I like your new version. And I agree that it should be split, though that's not going to be an easy job Mnb20 (talk) 13:49, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou. As you may have noticed, consensus was not reached back in January, but it may be easier to gain it if there are some rearrangements to consolidate all the Great North Road bits into one section, so that it can be re-posted as a section split. Even if that doesn't go through, the Great North Road (Great Britain) redirect could be targeted to that section (well, it sort of is, but needs refining).
