Speedy deletion of Tige Boats

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tige Boats requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion of Tige Boats

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tige Boats, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. re: Tige Boats

[edit]

The copyright problems have been corrected, but the larger issue is that Tige Boats reads like an advertisement or catalog and has no independent, non-trivial references that assert notability. The sources you listed are either press releases [1] [2], advertising [3], or are websites that are created by or in association with the company [4], [5]. Awards that the company won need to be verified by independent sources, not press releases. Your first article and our business FAQ explain in depth how to write an article about a business in a manner appropriate for Wikipedia and what types of sources are needed. re: re: Tige Boats

[edit]

I see your point with the references being unreliable. I will get corrected/more reliable references for the awards. In some cases, is it not appropriate to reference the the corporate website say for instance when I reference the in the timeline that the company was founded in 1991? Or for other reasons i.e. explaining how TAPS works? Thank you for your response and time.

It's always best to quote a third-party source whenever possible. In absence of that a corporate website can be used to verify facts in some cases but cannot be used to prove notability. Mister Senseless (Speak - Contributions) 21:58, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have done some revisions including finding sources that are more credible. Let me know if these changes are enough to keep the page up. Thanks.Mlsizemore (talk) 22:20, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re: re: re: Tige boats

[edit]

Hi, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, this week has been mad-crazy! Wikipedia:Citing_sources/Example_edits_for_different_methods#Footnotes lists how each type of print source is formatted, you surround the citation with <ref> and </ref> tags just like an online source, but just with plain text.

Regarding your question about how to make the article compliant with Wikipedia's policies, I took a look at some of the other online sources you added, unfortunately they still all seem to be press releases and other similar documents that are not third party, non-trivial. I asked a WikiFriend of mine for some advice as well, hopefully he can help because Tige boats does look like a notable company, we can fix the issues with tone and style to let the article read like less of a prospectus, but without objective sources it can't comply with our core policy of verifiable notability.
