Shinkendo

[edit]

Shinkendo is really just one of many newly created arts and itself has been tagged for lack of notability (all that means it was borderline). The Japanese martial arts page is supposed to be an overview not exhaustive - that is true for Koryu and Gendai. That is also why there is a List of Japanese Martial Arts so that we can link to all the variations.

Also I am just an editor like you - no power to decide or prevent any edit. There is of course the consensus of many other editors to consider which is shown by how the article evolves not necessarily any discussion. Please believe me when I say that my intent is not be draconian with my personal view but to reflect how I see the overall picture of Japanese martial arts evolving on Wikipedia. I believe if I had not reverted someone else would have.

What I would do is to raise the issue on the Japanese martial arts talk page. I personally would be more comfortable with a new section called "Other gendai martial arts" as we see in the Koryu section. Then Shinkendo and a few others could be mentioned. In fact thinking about it that section is a glaring ommision.Peter Rehse (talk) 02:17, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
