Hello, Kathylamb7, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Welcome!

[edit]

Welcome Kathy to the class and to Wikipedia. Acacia Winery seems like a good place to start. Writing about organizations can be tricky. Take a look at WP:ORG and to WP:ADVERT which are policies that are often relevant. Basically, you want to make sure that you have an encylopedic tone and that you talk about Acacia in a neutral way. Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing this develop! —mako 20:14, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mako! I'm more hesitant to see how many useful sources can be used for Acacia but I'm excited for the process. Kathylamb7 (talk) 19:11, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback on your draft

[edit]

Greetings Kathylamb7! I've just aken a pass on User:Kathylamb7/Acacia Winery. The work looks good and I have a few pieces of feedback:

  • The addition to the lede looks good but it might have some material that is more trivia/detail that belongs in other sections. Take a look at WP:LEDE for more guidance.
  • You've added a bunch of text that includes some references I think should be link. For example, the first time you mention Chalone you should make that a link since most folks won't know what that is.
  • Current State strikes me as a strange section title. Maybe move this into history? Also, maybe rework this so it's more prose and less of a list (see WP:PROSE).

That said, this all really looks pretty good. Once you've done a final pass to clean up some of this stuff, please go ahead and move your changes over into the live version. I think with another pass, you'll be in really great shape! —mako 18:29, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Benjamin Mako Hill! Thanks for the feedback, I've gone in and made those changes. Could you look over it once more and let me know if there are still areas that could be improved? Thank you! Kathylamb7 (talk) 05:04, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I know I responded on Discord already but this looks great to me! —mako 18:29, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
