NFL biographies

[edit]

Hey there. I noticed you've taken interest in editing football bios. Looks like your interest is mainly on the athletes' post-playing careers. You should consider joining WikiProject National Football League. It's a group of editors who dedicate most of their editing to NFL articles. We could use a niche editor like yourself, since personal lives are a touchy subject that often go unreferenced. But we're also looking for editors who are willing to expand articles for Hall of Famers. To definitely toot my own horn, see this version of Earl Campbell's page and compare it to the current version. It'd be nice if we could get all Hall of Famers to that level of content, bud sadly the majority of them are in a paltry state. Anyway, I hope you consider sticking around! Lizard (talk) 00:03, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite Lizard. Right now I'm just going to stick to a few specific athletes I've taken an interest in but maybe someday when have more free time will get involved with some WikiProjects. Good luck with the NFL project, looks like something you have put a lot of work into. --Jamesy0627144 (talk) 14:58, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hello Jamesy0627144, Bri has given you a basket of hemp hurds, for your contribution at Medical cannabis in the United States during the WP:420 collaboration! You see, these things promote WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a basket of hemp hurds! Enjoy! Whoops

Next time I'll engage brain fully, before committing fingers to keyboard. Anyway, all's well that ends well. Aspro (talk) 20:00, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'm not sure I agree with your definition of 'sizable' btw, but I think I like 'significant' better after all, so it's all good, haha.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 20:44, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

Words of cannabis encouragement

[edit]

I note you've been knocking it out of the park on cannabis topics recently. I just wanted to hope that you don't feel too lonely as the most prolific editor in the Project the last few months. IN the several years I've been with WPC, I've had points where I was by far the most prolific, and point where X or Y or Z editor was most prolific. So even if we don't necessarily have eight people simultaneously doing a ton of work, collectively we've gotten a lot done over several years. And odds are you'll see other upticks in other editors jumping in this year, even if you feel like a one-person-show some months. Stay moto and enjoy what you're accomplishing! Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 04:29, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Goonsquad. I'm going to have to retire from wikipedia soon and go get a job, but I'll still be around to upkeep a few pages at least. Definitely there will be more editors in the future though as this become more and more of a mainstream topic.
In the meantime keep doing what you are doing, that is some crazy dedication working on some of those cannabis-in-countries-I-never-heard-of articles and just about every other article that exists related to cannbis. The state articles you have created have been particuarly helpful to some of my efforts, allowing the state detail info to be cleaned out from the main cannabis in the U.S. articles.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 16:52, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I came to express the same sentiments. It's an under-written topic by and large IMO, given its social and economic importance. Keep up the good work and give yourself a double helping of hemp hurds! By the way do you think you'll stay onboard long enough to do this year's WPC April project? ☆ Bri (talk) 19:47, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Bri. I'm going to be winding it down very shortly cuz I really need to get a job, haha. So probably not on the 4/20, but we'll see, maybe I'll make a small contribution in the spirit of participation.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 23:42, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Item for history article

[edit]

Might be worth adding one or both to Legal history of cannabis in the United States. Last I saw, the plaintiff in the first case was granted a temporary injunction. The second one has a chance of descheduling on constitutional grounds, if I'm reading it correctly. ☆ Bri (talk) 06:57, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I don't think either of these are historically significant yet to the point of including them in the article, but we'll see what comes of them.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 18:20, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No obligation, just saw you weren't listed there but might want to be. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 08:20, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Added it, thanks.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 01:10, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Resolve any outstanding licensing issues via your existing email thread (you can ask your same questions there) and we can restore the image here when resolved. (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 18:32, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar:, can you please undelete the file? I contacted the copyright holder earlier today and he changed the licensing on the flickr page to "Attribution-ShareAlike". So that should resolve the outstanding copyright issue. Thank you.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 01:52, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamesy0627144, nicely done! It's ready to be moved to Commons. One issue: The photo's EXIF data credits Albert Yau/SecondPrint Productions as the copyright holder. Did Tim Pickett/Gridiron Records provide proof that the photographer transferred copyright to the label? Otherwise it wouldn't matter that the record label's Flickr released under the license if they're not the copyright holder. czar 08:45, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar: No, I didn't ask him about it, wasn't even aware of the issue. I can ask him through our facebook connection, but considering the photo was taken over 8 years ago there's a good chance he doesn't have documentation. This is probably a stupid question, but is there any way we could take his word for it if he states explicitly that he is the copyright holder?--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 19:05, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As long as the permission chain is explicit and shows no confusion, it's unlikely to be an issue. But sometimes uploaders think they have rights when they don't, e.g., hiring a photographer to shoot a photos doesn't necessarily transfer copyright for reprints, or photographer might give permission to upload/share but not relicense, hence why the copyright ownership needs clarification on the file's page. Otherwise it's likely to be challenged eventually. Another possibility is to get confirmation from the other end of the contract—from the photographer—if need be, but let's see what Pickett says first. czar 23:43, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

420 Collaboration

[edit]

Welcome to the 420 Collaboration. Glad you're interested. I've updated Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cannabis/420_Collaboration#Results based on some of your recent edits. Feel free to keep updating the list as you work on other content! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:39, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: OK, will do! I wasn't sure whether some of the recent edits like updating for Guam / New Mexico reforms were significant enough to consider them improved articles, but if you think they qualify that sounds good to me.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 20:51, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Update South Korea for MMJ map?

[edit]

Should South Korea also be updated on this map?

Saw that you were the last to update it so just dropping a mention. Thanks for helping keep it up to date! Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 22:19, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney:As far as I know only cannabinoid drugs such as Epidiolex, Marinol, and Sativex are available. There is some murkiness with the legal situation though (see entry in Legality of cannabis table) which could lead to some confusion.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 00:28, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lithuania status

[edit]

This article from Lithuanian National Radio and Television says the law went into effect but Ministry of Health is not doing its part to allow sales. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:29, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Bri! That is very good that we finally have some confirmation that it was signed into law. Looks like there is some implementaton problems as you have mentioned though, and after reading the article (and a few others I dug up today) I'm not even completely sure that use of whole-plant cannabis (as opposed to isolated cannabinoids) has been legalized. But I'm not going to worry about that... just went ahead and updated the Cannabis in Lithuania article a bit and as far as the entry in the Legality of cannabis table I simply marked it as "Legal". If you want to add any more detail to the table than that, go for it.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 03:50, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Denny Heck

[edit]

Hi, when you added the new section to Denny Heck, you inadvertently deleted a different sourced section. I've put it back in the article. Please be careful when moving sections around so as not to remove content that should remain in the article, thanks! Schazjmd (talk) 01:03, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, never mind. I finally figured out that it's the same section, just updated and renamed. Schazjmd (talk) 01:05, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good edit. On Political positions of Tulsi Gabbard, I had split ‘Drug law reform’ from ‘Criminal justice system reform’. Can you take a look at that to see how best to arrange and include the material you added? Thx, Humanengr (talk) 12:00, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Humanengr: OK. I'm looking at it right now and will probably make some edits soon.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 08:15, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Humanengr: I made one edit and that will probably be it. The criminal justice reform section I didn't really touch because it seems OK and my expertise is only in the area of cannabis policy. Regarding the split of "Drug law reform" from "Criminal justice reform", I think that makes sense on her political positions page where more detail is warranted than on her main article page.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 04:55, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thx … In reading through the MM piece, I see they say “For example, she supported two measures to protect state medical cannabis laws from federal interference as well as a broader proposal to shield all state marijuana laws, including those allowing recreational use.” I’m thinking that “Gabbard supports the legalization of cannabis for recreational purposes.” -might- be overstating the case and so would modify to more closely reflect source. Thoughts? Humanengr (talk) 19:28, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Humanengr: There are multiple quotes from the article where Gabbard says she supports legalization:
"60% of voters support marijuana legalization—great to see Florida coming around!"
"I'm for legalizing marijuana & holding Big Pharma accountable."
"As president I'll end the failed war on drugs, legalize marijuana, end cash bail, and ban private prisons and bring about real criminal justice reform."
"Legalizing adult use of marijuana is common sense and long overdue."
So I believe the statement is accurate.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 20:06, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My bad … I didn't 'read through' but only searched for 'recreational'. Thx for the pull quotes. Humanengr (talk) 00:39, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I Need Your Help

[edit]

Hello Jamesy0627144,

I'm new to Wikipedia and I need your help with the Legality of cannabis by U.S. jurisdiction. What I need help with is I want to make Kansas grey instead of light green on the map of the legal status of it, since it's fully illegal and CBD is legal with no THC in it so can you fix it? - Placlutwo (talk) 19:43, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Placlutwo. Kansas was intentionally made light green due to a law that they passed in 2019 (Claire and Lola's Law) and for which NCSL hasn't gotten around to updating their map yet for some reason. Hope that helps.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 19:53, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Idaho Medical Marijuana Legalization

[edit]

Hello Jamesy0627144,

I just recently found out that the new legal CBD adjustment law to legalize it with 0.1% THC in Idaho was signed a couple of months ago and is going into effect on July 1, 2021.[1] So can you change the Idaho state map on the Legality of Cannabis by U.S. jurisdiction article from grey to light green?

Thank you!

Thanks. I actually brought this topic up for discussion at WikiProject Cannabis as I believe the entire color coding of the map is outdated and needs to be changed. Hopefully I can get something done on this in the next few days.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 15:35, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Report Request

[edit]

Hello Jamesy0627144,

Since I don't know how to report incidents to the Administrators yet, can you please report 199.199.246.211 ASAP and ask someone to block him from editing? Since he keeps editing Cannabis in Wisconsin the wrong way and I've seen you've given him warnings and whatnot about his disruptive editing and he's at it again. ~ Owtulcalp (talk) 15:36, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah that's gone on long enough, I filed a report here Owtulcalp.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 21:16, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamesy0627144: I think you should contact a blocking administrator directly since the IP is also currently engaging in an edit war as well on the same article and nothing has been done about it as of today. Owtulcalp (talk) 18:44, 11 June 2021 (UTC) ~[reply]

Jeffree Star cannabis laws in Wyoming

[edit]

Hello, I opened up a discussion on whether cannabis laws should be mentioned on Jeffree Stars page. I figured I’d reach out since you’re involved in Wikipedia:WikiProject Cannabis. If you could share your thoughts that’d be great. Thank you! Pillowdelight (talk) 23:33, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Regarding this edit at Legality of cannabis by U.S. jurisdiction, I don’t think you accounted for the current status in Maryland. You might want to double check. ☆ Bri (talk) 05:33, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I thought about that and whether the intro should be changed for Maryland too, which you can make a case for. The Maryland situation seems more firm though with a constitutional amendment requiring the legislature to "by law, provide for the use, distribution, possession, regulation, and taxation of cannabis within the state", which is playing out in the legislature right now. So considering that it is probably going to be resolved in the near future anyways, I just left it alone.--Jamesy0627144 (talk) 06:07, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
