Proposed deletion of DieppaMusic

[edit]

The article DieppaMusic has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable musician.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello admins, I am trying to figure out how this was flagged. The response I received for posting the page dedicated to Mr. Dieppa, was that he was not a noteworthy musician. Mr. Dieppa is an internationally acclaimed classical musician who's primary works are known mostly in the latin american region for his take on the famous classical composers, his work in teaching music to children and teens, as well as the orchestra he founded. He is well known in the classical community in the Santa Fe area for his founding of the Santa Fe Orchestra. His work has been reviewed by many publications, including Fanfare Magazine, Gramophone, American Record Guide, and several other lesser known publications, primarily in Colombia, and other parts of Latin America. If there are changes that need to be made to bring this into the guidelines of Wikipedia, I would be happy to make them. I am actively working with Mr. Dieppa on the production of this Wiki, and all discussion and content I have currently produced is all with his express permission and encouragement.

Unless you can list all of the available amounts of in-depth third-party news sources overall and NO press releases, interviews, social media or trivial passing mentions, that may help. If not, it's unlikely he's notable. SwisterTwister talk 22:05, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The article cited no identifiable sources ("Fanfare Magazine had this to say about him" - I don't think you expect us to read every issue of Fandfare Magazine ever to find the source, do you?) and read more like a sales blurb than an encyclopedia article. "Roberto has written and performed many arrangements of South American songs" - how many is "many"? Three? Thirty? 300? "Roberto is setting the stage for the next generation to follow in his footsteps to musical greatness" - so which hall of fame includes him? Who called him "great"? Who commented on his educational efforts? All of that (and much else in the now-deleted article) sounds great but ultimately is vacuous; Dieppa might be notable, but the article didn't show it, and it would also have qualified for speedy deletion as a blatant advertisement. Please also review our guideline on conflcits of interest. I don't doubt Mr Dieppa encouraged you to write such nice things about him, but that's not Wikipedia's standard of neutrality. That answers my questions much better than I was hoping. I apologize as you have clearly shown that I did everything wrong. I wasn't sure if there was a set of qualifications that he needed to meet as an artist to qualify as a notable musician or something along those lines. I will either re-write it in a non-partisan way with sources cited or discontinue the project entirely. I reviewed several other musician pages on wikipedia, and you are correct, the page I made DOES sound like a bad sales pitch. While not really affiliated with Mr. Dieppa in any meaningful way, I am a fan, and probably am pretty biased. As a side note, I was not finished with the article by any means, but I was unsure how to save it to work on it later. Is there a way to save an article as un-published, while I compose it? Thank you for your help. Gasia89 (talk) 22:49, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
