Just to let you know, I e-mailed you. Making the RfA page right now. Nishkid64 23:55, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is wrong with daniel chen

[edit]

There is nothing wrong with me posting a ligitimate page on Daniel Chen. He is a state record holder in the state of Oregon. This is important, he is the fastest 11-12 year old swimmer to ever swim in Oregon. I do not believe that it is appropriate to say that this is not important, or to punish me for posting an article about him on Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sgtpepper2751 (talkcontribs) 23:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

And do we have articles on the fastest 12-year-old swimmer in any other state? Can you find any articles on any other 12-year-old record holders? Fan-1967 00:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dur85

[edit]

As the heir to the heir he is still a notable character and as such is worthy of description on wikipedia.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dur85 (talkcontribs)

No, there's nothing there that meets the standards at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Has he been "the subject of multiple non-trivial reports" in major publications? Doesn't appear so. There's an article on the baronetcy that lists his name as heir to the heir presumptive, and his birth year. Since he's never done anything of note other than being born into that family, I can't see any reason to have a separate article on him. Fan-1967 05:24, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Apologize

[edit]

So I made a very poor decision and I am terribly sorry that I vandalized grunge music.

Under the circumstances, I had no choice.

Can you imagine the kind of pressure I was in with all my friends egging me on?

Keep this to yourself, but I don't like them all too much.

Maybe one of these days, we can live in a world without peer pressure.

Yet I doubt that day will come.

But a man can only dream.

After all, everyone changes over the course of their life.

Lately, I've noticed everyone just seems nicer.

Luckily my friends seem nicer too.

So long, good sir, and have a good day. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mrcrono (talkcontribs) 18:13, 26 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Some of the criticisms are valid. Some I disagree with, but at least I can listen to them. Fan-1967 00:08, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And right that you should. However, I've "met" (on my Wiki-travels) some incivil people (inc admins) and for some reason, you don't strike me as one. Bubba hotep 00:11, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Based on some of the criticism I'm beginning to think that some Wikipedians think being an admin is a title and privilege granted and revoked only by The Supreme Diety himself (whoever/whatever that may be). If you don't make it, don't worry. Maybe next time, after you obtain perfection, you will the nod. Stangbat 04:18, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck mikmt 18:11, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Meh, you're running at 55% or so, and it doesn't look good from here. Regardless, the RfA should be a good learning process, and I can definitely see you back up in a few months. I mean, most of the oppose votes only concern your biting, civility and mistaken CSD tagging, and that can easily be fixed with a few months of more experience and improvement. Best of luck in this RfA, Fan. Nishkid64 23:12, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Withdrawn I feel it is everyone's best interests to withdraw my name at this time. Clearly, valid criticisms of my behavior have been raised that I need to address before thinking about pursuing this again. I think it's time for me to step back, get less involved and less stressed over various issues. I thank those who offered their support, and maybe in the future I can justify their confidence. Fan-1967 20:20, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

why did u delete my addition? if you did not notice i had stated that he was not well-known and the fact that the use of an arab strap is not worldwide. What is the point of wikipedia if people are not able to find every detal that they can possibly find. i know that is why i enjoy using wikipedia so much. because it has every little piece of information you could ever want, and even some of the things you don't even need to know.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Monkeyboy27364 (talkcontribs)

At the core of Wikipedia's principles is Verifiability. If we can't verify something to be true, we cannot include it. If you can find some citation to support your reference, by all means do so, but I cannot even find any verification that such a porn performer even exists. Without verification, we cannot include the material. Fan-1967 00:36, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know how I would be able to find things on limewire that have already been deleted from the server? Because the information I had found was from 2001, and I have not been able to find it for over 2 years. The only reason i remembered it is because a neigher of mine has a similar name. RfA

[edit]

I'm sorry it had to end that way, but I am glad it served as a learning experience, for the both of us. Hopefully you can improve based on the opposition votes, and maybe I can nominate you again in the future. Nishkid64 20:20, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I have, in fact, gotten too involved and too stressed, and it's time to decompress a bit. I need to examine what kind of role I want to play in the future. Some less stressful activities might be a good idea. There are tons of articles needing copyediting, tons of links that need DABing. Less RCP would definitely be a good idea. Fan-1967 20:24, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Chiming in; I'm impressed by your withdrawal message and, like most others I think, despite my opposition this time, would be more than happy to reconsider you in a few months. --Dweller 20:28, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Chiming in as I suppose you would have expected from me; I am truly sorry it didn't work out and think the community as a whole has missed out on appointing an admin with an astounding vision to see things for what they really are. It's not even like you were speedying valid articles or being sarcastic to anyone other than blatant vandals or twelve year olds - I've seen a few admins do that myself and thought it was ok (although it's not my style and I couldn't carry it off). Maybe you have to be an admin before you can do it, though. Anyway, good luck in whatever you do next - as long as it is still on Wikipedia. Bubba hotep 20:36, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, the fact that I was snapping at the vandals and the twelve-year-olds is an indication that I was letting them get me overstressed, even if they might have deserved it sometimes. Regardless, they should always be treated with a cool head, and I wasn't always doing that. Fan-1967 20:39, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are arguments for both under- and over-reaction in the case of vandals. I suppose what you are saying is true, though. Perhaps it's because you are (or maybe were, now) the polar opposite of what is deemed acceptable without being an idiot which a lot of people (including the people who literally queued up round the block to nom you over the months) found... erm, refreshing, more than anything. Bubba hotep 20:48, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let me add my voice to the show of support above. As I mentioned in your RfA, I think some of the concerns expressed there were genuine but some of them were not. Don't over-analyze the whole thing: it's not easy to keep cool when dealing with vandals and for the most part you've handled that quite well. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 22:28, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry. We have interacted well in the past, and I supported you. Please try again in three months or so.--Anthony.bradbury 20:50, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I say, I have always related well with you, and when I was a new editor you were on occasion most supportive. After addressing whatever concerns some editors may have had, I urge you to re-apply. I will nominate you in April if you wish, and if you let me know. As you will appreciate, you suffered from a pile-on, as I did in November.--Anthony.bradbury 23:08, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The most annoying thing about a pile-on? People are discouraged from adding their support if it is an obvious oppose (at that point). The converse is also true. People are discouraged from supporting if the "consensus" is oppose. And you're not "allowed" to tell anyone you are running, so no doubt you will get a few people saying they "wish [they] knew". The answer? A closed ballot. With an X on a card without seeing who voted for who... Bubba hotep 23:15, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will support you next time, just let me know :) --HIZKIAH (User • Talk) 12:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I had to oppose. If concerns are addressed - which I'm sure they will be - I would be happy to give strong support in 2 months or more. Please leave a note on my talk page when you stand again (not spam, because I've requested it). Tyrenius 22:07, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll second that. Certainly the sarcasm and such - I have to admit, your OnlineIdols comment made me laugh - isn't appropriate if you want to be an admin. Also, if you don't mind a bit of speculative criticism, I think that when your views are opposed, sometimes you take it a little personally, viewing it as more of a challenge than just an opposing view. We're a big community and even very experienced users will often disagree with each other on grey-area questions. Consider hitting the brakes when you find that a discussion is turning into a debate or an argument. As with Tyrenius, let me know if you choose to RfA again, and of course feel free to ask me any questions about my comments here or on the RfA. | Mr. Darcy talk 00:19, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Color of Money (album)

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article The Color of Money (album), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Spellcast 09:57, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Portuguese (and German) Wikipedias seem to have thoroughly verified the (somewhat arbitrary) criteria for deletion and decided not to do it. She was a real person, a real poet, a published author, and a nationally acclaimed journalist. I think this is far more important than, say, to keep adding badly translated wikis about Pokemon thingummies. Any ideas? (i.e., can you please help me make the English Language Wikipedia as accurate as possible, and ever so slightly less focussed on current american trivia nad pop news?)

Hi,
I need your help. I am working on a research project at Boston College, studying creation of medical information on Wikipedia. You are being contacted, because you have been identified as an important contributor to one or more articles.

Would you will be willing to answer a few questions about your experience? We've done considerable background research, but we would also like to gather the insight of the actual editors. Details about the project can be found at the user page of the project leader, geraldckane. Survey questions can be found at geraldckane/medsurvey. Your privacy and confidentiality will be strictly protected!

The questions should only take a few minutes. I hope you will be willing to complete the survey, as we do value your insight. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Professor Kane if you have any questions.

Survey on quality control policies

[edit]

As part of a project funded by the European Commission (QLectives), we are collecting and analysing data to study quality control mechanisms and inclusion/deletion policies in Wikipedia. According to our records, you participated in a large number of AfD. We are currently soliciting editors with a long record of participation in AfD discussions to send us their feedback via a very informal survey.

The survey takes less than 5 minutes and is available at this URL. Should you have any questions about this project, feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for your help! --DarTar (talk) 10:45, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Raven Riley

[edit]

An editor has nominated Raven Riley, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raven Riley (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 02:13, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She is very impressive and prolific on the concert scene and has numerous major CDs to her credit. I notice she has a very fine website too www.christinecroshaw.com Would you perhaps add an image of her to her wikipedia page? A Google search shows this to be her most up to date publicity photograph: http://www.artrabbit.com/uk/events/event/14200/concert_series_2009_christine_croshaw

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
