RE: Map of the Netherlands

[edit]

What do you mean? I assume you are talking about the one I added to Netherlands yesterday.

If so, do you mean you don't see the special municipalities, because if that is the case you may need to force a refresh (in Firefox you can do this by viewing the image in its own page, holding shift and clicking the refresh button; after that you may need to refresh the NL page as well. Other browsers are similar).

If it's that you can't see that it is different from the version that was already there (.png version), that is because it is largely the same visually. However, for maps etc, vectors are preferred by Wikipedia (when using relatively simple line-type maps anyway; not so much for topographical maps and the like), since they scale better (when shrunk or expanded they produce smoother lines etc). From a user point of view, the difference is fairly insignificant, but loading time etc shouldn't be effected and it should produce a slightly sharper image.

Alphathon /'æl.f'æ.ðɒn/ (talk) 13:11, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was indeed talking about the map you've added to Netherlands. Well, problem is I don't see any dark green dots near Venezuela... but if it works for other people it's fine to me. Thanks for the response though. Dqfn13 (talk) 09:52, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

BRD

[edit]

Dear Dqfn13, I have opened the discussion on Talk:Netherlands and invite you to discuss ethnicity. I have temporarily restored the version that is in conformation with the source for consistency (but that does not mean I am in favour of any arrangement, I let the value of the sources count...)... Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/LvdMoosdijk

[edit]

To delete a user page, you would have to go to WP:MFD rather than WP:AFD. But first, to avoid being "bitey," please try contacting the editor and pointing out Wikipedia:User pages and asking him to make whatever change you feel is needed. Some bio information, and description of background and interests is highly appropriate on a user page, if not a lengthy resumé. Regards. Edison (talk) 16:08, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Edison, this user hasn't been active since 2006 and on the Dutch wiki not since 2009. So deletion of this resumé isn't that strange. This userpage doesn't show any interests of the user, just only where this user went to school, did during his/her educations, nothing more. I'm not trying to be bitey, I'm just blunt (I'm Dutch, so being blunt is in my blood). I'll do what you've pointed out to me... but I don't think it'll make any difference. Armenia in JESC 2012

[edit]

According to WP:UNSOURCED, any material lacking a reliable source that directly supports it may be removed, and the acticle used as reference is not clear about Armenia's participation. So unfortuately, until a better reference is found, Armenia may not be added. Cheers. Kosm1fent 12:05, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but the source does say they will participate... maybe it isn't very obvious. We'll see in the future, there shourly will come a better source. Dqfn13 (talk) 12:08, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The source says "we will plunge again into blah blah". Whether they mean we, as Armenia, or we, as majestic plural is unclear. Maybe they did intend to confirm their participation; however, their wording did not make that clear. As you said, there should be a better article coming soon, possibly even mentioning a deadline for the pre-selection. Cheers. Kosm1fent 12:16, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Coat of arms of Zaanstad has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable sources that can verify. The only reference provided does not appear to be a reliable source. The municipality's official website has not mention or display of these coat of arms.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Artist in his studio, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Museum of Fine Arts (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Verifiability

[edit]

Please do not remove citations in articles. Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability about the English Wikipedia policy. – Editør (talk) 21:11, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editor, this has been talked about on the Dutch article talk page, you don't need to verify who's the director is or where the museum is located. Why do the same as you did on the Dutch article? Dqfn13 (talk) 22:52, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The English Wikipedia policy is much stricter, please read it and stop removing citations immediately. – Editør (talk) 06:42, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Attribute all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged to a reliable, published source using an inline citation. Means: if it MIGHT be challenged give a source. Nobody is going to challenge the location of a museum, nobody will challenge who the director is. But I'll leave it, I won't start a war over this, you've won and lost at the same time. Interview invitation from a Wikipedia researcher in the University of Minnesota

[edit]

I am Weiwen Leung, a student at the University of Minnesota. I am currently conducting a study on how people on the LGBT+ Wikipedians group use and contribute to Wikipedia.

Would you be willing to answer a short 5 minute survey? If so, please email me at leung085@umn.edu. It would be helpful if you could include your Wikipedia username when emailing.

Thank you, Weiwen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Weiwensg (talkcontribs) 03:09, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Where can I ask an admin to hide a version of a page?

[edit]

Dear Admins,

On the Dutch spoken Wikipedia we have a request page for where people can ask us to make a version invisible. This can only be done in case of privacy, harassment and in case of copyvio. Today I found this version on enwiki. I think this version should be made invisible, as the person is not famous at all. Where can I make such a request in the future?

Thanks,

Dqfn13 (talk) 12:01, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Dqfn13:, I am not an administrator but I believe I can answer your question. Here on English Wikipedia the procedure is known as Revision deletion (a.k.a. "RevDel"). There is no RevDel noticeboard to avoid publicizing material that should not be even visible (see Streisand effect for reasons why). You can request RevDel from any one of these administrators. I have to say, however, I see no reason why the linked edit should be removed from the edit history. I suggest you review the list of reasons at the first link I left before making a RevDel request. I hope this helps. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 13:34, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, @Dqfn13: I am an administrator here on the English Wikipedia, and am unfamiliar with the person mentioned in that edit. At first glance, I don't see that this issue meets the list of criteria I'm allowed to remove content from (WP:REVDEL lays out our policy.) However, I know that sometimes there is more than meets the eye to a request such as this, if you'd like to send additional information privately, you can select "email this user" from the page [[1]]. --joe deckertalk 16:34, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both Eggishorn and joe decker for the answers. At nlwiki we may be a bit more strickt with privacy of non-notable people. We will delete revisions with names of people who have put their own names on lists, articles, etc. If the revision here doesn't meet the criterea I won't ask for deletion. At least I now know where I can find a list of criterea and where to find the right people. Dqfn13 (talk) 18:37, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kijk eens: jouw foto!

Dqfn13 (talk) 19:24, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
