Signing comments

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you!--Crossmr 22:01, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Advice: English dialects on Wikipedia: Wikipedia has millions of readers; some use American English, or British English, or International English, or any of numerous other local forms from Australia, Canada, Ireland etc. Because of this, Wikipedia has a policy of respecting articles written in whatever form of English the original author of the article used.

The guidelines are simple. For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, just ask anyone on Wikipedia and they will help you. Enjoy your time on the internet's fastest growing encyclopædia/encyclopedia . Thank you. Hello. The Darkest Hour (Warriors), an article you recently created, does not properly cite its sources, according to WP:CITE. Please include a full citation for every source used. Thank you. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalkContribsSpread the love! 20:59, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This is a reply to your reply of the comment above on my talk page. According to Wikipedia policy, every article should have a reliable primary source. Hello. This is a reply to your comments on my talk page. The article is not properly sourced because you should include a full citation for all of the works you used as references for writing the book's analysis. If you did the analysis yourself, then you should re-write the article, because Wikipedia:No original research states that you should not include original research on Wikipedia. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalkContribsSpread the love! 22:59, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. This is a reply to your reply on my talk page. I'm afraid I don't understand. Did you copy the plot summaries from articles in Wikipedia? Or did you copy the plot summaries from the books? BoricuaeddieTalkContribsSpread the love! 01:01, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. This is a reply to your reply on my talk page. Thank you for explaining the situation to me. I understand you moved the information from the original page to separate, relevant pages. If this is indeed the case, then you must ask the editor who originally wrote the plot summaries where he/she got the information and include them on your articles. I hope this finally solves the problem. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalkContribsSpread the love! 20:29, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, articles should not be moved, as you did to The Sight (Warriors), without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. We have some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Just to let you know, there are other articles named "The Sight" «razorclaw» 21:13, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Corrie

[edit]

This is an encyclopaedia. Encyclopaedia articles on mainstream subjects such as the glacial feature known as a corrie take precedence over informal nicknames for a soap opera, used primarily in a single country. Guy (Help!) 12:41, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There already is a disambiguation page at Corrie (disambiguation). If you wanted to disambiguate, you would redirect Corrie there. You can also vote at my RM (see Talk:Corrie (disambiguation)) to do just that. The way, the truth, and the light 16:02, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After reading Metros' comments on my talk page, and reviewing your email, I think it's reasonable to conclude that there's not enough evidence to keep you blocked for sockpuppetry. I Saw Your Comment On SuggestBot's Talk Page

[edit]

"Wikify" is simply when you add links to other articles here. :) When you see an article that says that it needs to be wikified, that means that it could be improved by adding wikilinks to other relevant articles. If you'd like to know more, the "orphan" tag means that there are few-to-no articles that link to it. Hope that helps! :) -WarthogDemon 21:26, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I better reply here, rather than clog up that talk page. My personal opinion is rather biased, as I am a gamer (especially a fan of GTA), and work in the games industry, so as you can imagine I'm not exactly his biggest fan. I hope that he is doing it out of some (in my opinion misguided) attempt at saving peoples lives, in which case I think he is probably trying to do the right thing, even though I don't agree with it. If on the other hand it is has just become a vendetta against Take Two, then well...

On another note, I notice you are a PS3 owner, there's not a lot of us around yet, I only hope that with the recent new games, and some of the cool stuff coming in the future it will take off. John Hayestalk 18:47, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dah-bwu.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dah-bwu.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:37, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Fake American Spelling"

[edit]

Now, I couldn't help but notice this statement in a recent edit of yours. What, pray tell, did you mean by this statement because the only way I can take it as a harsh, unnecessary comment directed at a certain group of people when all you really had to say is that the article is predominately in British English rather than American English. I'll kindly ask you to remain civil and please refrain from such statements in the future. Thanks. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions23:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to ask you about this edit. I disagree with you about removing the tag. I think that the only section of that article that isn't a summary is the 'Other' section, which talks about the plot of the story anyway. I don't really understand how only 1/3 of the article describes the plot. ~ Bella Swan 01:45, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I do think that that template is the best at saying that there is only a plot summary in the article. If it's alright with you I'll change it back. ~ Bella Swan 23:02, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Big willy.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Big willy.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
