Connect the pages in other languages

[edit]

Hello, I published an article and would like to connect it to the existing articles in other langages - they were written by other authors, but about the same topic. How should I connect them to be found in scroll menu 'languages'?

You can do it from the Wikidata item. The link should be in your links on the left hand side of the article's page. Valereee (talk) 18:57, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Dall'Abaco, I saw the wikidata item wasn't connected, so I connected it. In future, what you do is go to wikidata and search for the item. Scroll way down, you'll find a section where it lists all wikipedias that have an article. You can add the wikipedia article there. Valereee (talk) 19:38, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your help! 188.65.245.51 (talk) 19:59, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're so welcome! Valereee (talk) 21:25, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
May I ask you another question? There is an issue - I can't login on the mobile device. It doesn't work neither via mobile browser nor via wiki app. It's very disturbing. It works proper on the computer on any browser though. What could be the problem and whom should I ask? Thank you in advance. Dall'Abaco (talk) 10:08, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What was the username for your previous account? Valereee (talk) 10:35, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I tracked it down, and this is not okay. You requested and received a courtesy vanishing. As is clearly described at WP:VANISH, this is not so that you can start fresh with a new account. Valereee (talk) 10:53, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see, so what should I do now? I'd like to stay further with my actual account. Dall'Abaco (talk) 11:04, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, this is the first time I've come across this. This really is WP:SOCKPUPPETRY, which is immediately blockable. If you want to return to editing, you'll have to request to have the renaming reversed.
And it takes us directly to the next problem: Your motivation for doing this seems to have been the recreation of an article you have a major WP:COI with, which means you should not be editing that article. So that means the courtesy vanishing was requested for...well, let's say not the most legitimate reason. The fact you're at least admitting to this is a promising step.
I don't even know how to request the reversal of a renaming. I'd probably say email renamerswikimedia.org. But I would recommend that right now, this very minute, before you do anything else, go to User:Dall'Abaco, click Create at the top, and say something like, "This is my second account, my first was (previous name), which was vanished." Valereee (talk) 11:21, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
done. Is there any chance to get rid of that badge on the top of my article? If there are any issues in the text or sources, I'd appreciate your advise. But now it looks like my whole work is destructed. Dall'Abaco (talk) 13:04, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see that you've made that declaration on your user page?
When someone comes along and is willing to rewrite, they'll remove the banner, as long as you don't continue to edit directly but instead through WP:Edit requests. The issue is that it may require them to find more sources; my knowledge of musician sourcing requirements is limited. Pinging Gerda Arendt, a German contributor with a deep knowledge of classical music. Gerda, Rastrelli Cello Quartet is a group that is based in Germany. Would you be willing to take a look? Valereee (talk) 18:07, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing but it will take some time. On vacation, first edit of the day, lots of things waiting ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:16, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Gerda. Dall'Abaco, we're all volunteers, here, and there are no deadlines. Valereee (talk) 19:34, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from Rastrelli Cello Quartet to another page. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:

NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Mach61 17:57, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
