Hindi Wikipedia

[edit]

Thanks for suggesting me to contribute to the Hindi Wikipedia.

Yes, a beautiful language like Hindi deserves to be given proper attention on Wikipedia.

In your view, what does Hindi Wikipedia need at this point in time?

Hindi Wiki Insert toolbox

[edit]

Hi, The Hindi wikipedia's Insert toolbox has been edited to include many new characters. Please edit and common page at Hindi wiki, just to view the new insertbox. About the स and श with dot below, I shall give a detailed explaination later. And I know that the comments within this toolbox are very nervejarring, but to encourage foreigners, etc, I think the phonetic symbols should be there. Please bear with me for that. Also, I have given a completely new look to the main page, please see it. Thanks, Cygnus_hansa 19:12, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User Timwi's cruzade

[edit]

User:Timwi has reverted all (or most) of my invitation messages for Hindi wiki (like the one I sent to you) on the various (Hindi-speaking) user talk pages. User:DragonflySixtyseven had even blocked me for the same, but later agreed to unblock upon hearing my explanation. User:Timwi still pays no heed to my explanations, and still considers those messages as SPAM. Please look into the matter. The Indian/Hindi speaking guys have not considered my invitation message as a spam, they have replied either positively or expressed inability to contribute. Glossary

[edit]

I think splitting topicwise will be counterproductive, because a person who doesn't know the meaning of a word won't either know which topic it belongs to. So, splitting alphabetically like the spirituality glossary will be best. I've already noticed that you're doing some nice work there! deeptrivia (talk) 09:46, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You!

Thank you for the birthday message. (I was a little overwhelmed with all of the birthday wished I received!) Steveo2

Hi DaGizza/Archive/8, thank you for voting in my RFA which failed eventually at a result of (91/51/8). I do not plan to run for adminship until a later date. Once again, I would like to thank you for voting. --Terence Ong (talk | contribs) 15:03, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi:wikipedia

[edit]

Hello. I really felt nice to hear from you after a long time. I would surely do as suggested. My Hindi is as good or as bad my English. I feel that I can comfortably contribute to Hindi wikipedia, to begin with, in Roman script. I also thank you for creating the page for me. All the best! --Bhadani 14:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Hey DaGizza, thanks for your support during my recent successful request for adminship. I really appreciate it man. As an experienced admin, I'm sure you'll tell me if I'm doing something I shouldn't as an admin! Take care -- Samir धर्म 04:26, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear DaGizza/Archive/8,
Thank you very much for your support on my recent RfA. I am pleased to announce that it passed with a tally of 72/11/1, and I am now an administrator. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the tools, but please let me know if there are any admin jobs I can do to help you, now or in the future. —Cuiviénen 02:24, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gibraltar

[edit]

I would like to ask you a favour. Could you please have a look at the talk page and history of the article on Gibraltar. Over the past few months a number of users, including myself, have been in conflict with user:Gibnews. We feel he has taken over the page as his pet project and has imposed a NPOV pro-Gibraltarian point of view. I feel his attitude and utter refusal to acheive any form of consensus is contrary to the rules of wikipedia. He accuses everyone of Spanish propaganda even on issues which are not directly related to the Anglo-Spanish dispute over Gibraltar and reverts pretty much everything which is not written by himself. Although I am not Spanish, I sometimes wonder if I may be slightly biased towards the Spanish perspective. I do not however believe that Gibraltar should be Spanish and I try to remain as neutral as possible. I do not have a problem with Gibnew's views. I simply do not approve of his way of discarding other people's sources, opinions etc... You should perhaps consult other users for their opinions such as user:ecemaml and user:asterion.

That is why I ask you, as an uninterested party, to mediate or atleast give your perspective on this issue.

Please look at the talk page over the past few months. Conflict with user Gibnews seems to go a long way back.

Thankyou very much for your help. We would really appreciate it. There is nothing worse that when articles are hijacked by individuals with political agendas. --Burgas00 13:06, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Still editing!

[edit]

Hello. Yes, I wanted to take a break - but still I do some edits. I am planning to do something for Hindi wikipedia as suggested by you. I think we should ensure that at least we have 1000 select pages which all wikipedias are expected to have: http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_articles_all_languages_should_have

I will discuss the issue further. To begin with I shall translate the ppage names and write them in the Roman script. Thereafter, some of us interested in the project may identify the pages already existing in Hindi wikipedia. Then, I shall try to create as many new stubs of 200 to 250 words as may be possible and write in Hindi but in Roman script. BTW. I want your free and frank opinion about my work relating to stubs on Hinduism and Hindu mythology. --Bhadani 14:02, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A short Esperanzial update

[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sanskrit translation request

[edit]

Hello DaGizza! I noticed from your user page that you can speak Sanskrit. I was wondering if you could provide me with an English translation for the word "Go Shree"/"Goshree". Thanks! -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK11:14, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help, DaGizza. And you were right — I am from Kerala. ;-) I needed this for the Kochi page. Nichalp suggested I get a better translation than "prosperous with cows" (which, by the way, I got from a website). Do you know anyone who is fluent in Sanskrit that could me with this? Thanks! -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK13:37, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
