Indian/world music articles

[edit]

Thank you for the star; it's my pleasure! I was myself very surprised that so many articles about Indian classical music topics were nonexistent. Unfortunately I don't know much about the vocal side of things but I have just made the acquaintance of a fine Bengali singer and she is filling me in about many of the terms. I hope you'll be able to add more to the articles. It will be of great educational value to people all over the world who are able to read English--even Indians (and Indians living overseas). Girik, Just in case you didn't see my comment on Buddhipriya's page, I thought I'd drop a note of thanks here too. Hope you are enjoying the Aussie "winter". Abecedare 03:40, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added what I could find quickly on this ancient Vedic text. Please take a look. I think somewhere in that Purana is a predition of Wikipedia edit wars yet to come. Buddhipriya 05:59, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Answer to "Hello!"

[edit]

Hello Gizza,
I just read your message. That's a great pleasure for me to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/Participants! I'm a cricket fan from France and, as you seen, I like to write on it in French Wikipedia (where unfortunately there are just a few articles...)... I'll find the time to improve France national cricket team and any other that you want me to improve... You just have to take care of my English, which is not perfect :), so excuse me if I made a few mistakes !
OrangeKnight 12:23, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are not a lot of cricket fans in France, and just a few are users of French Wikipedia (in fact, we are... 2 or 3)... At the moment, we are expanding articles such as équipe d'Australie de cricket (Australia national cricket team)... I noticed that their are contributors from Norway and Switzerland, it's wonderful ! We have to try to help cricket to develop in our own countries... But it's difficult :) ! Thank you for the mistakes :) ! OrangeKnight 18:13, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did u delete Kryptids?

[edit]

I am a member of Kryptids(the founder in fact) and please can u put Kryptids back where it is? All we want to do is tell everyone about this XP. Please?Redpanda REX 12:39, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As the person who nominated it for deletion, I would be remiss if I did not point that wikipedia is not for advertising/self-promotion. DarkSaber2k 12:51, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I explained to REX on his talk page about the Wikipedians policies restraining him from creating the page, hopefully not biting him too badly. GizzaChat © 12:56, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable Sources

[edit]

I started the article Polar paradise, because, I am a member of kryptids, and I want everone to know about this. Also, Blue Fang tated that they were happy to see that people were giving up their time to make animals for ZT2. Please don't delete my article.

Hinduism portal.

I Guess it is fixed since I'm not seeing any problems. I hope you're doing well. ~ the man who sold the world 23:21, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

Hi DaGizza,

I see that you've deleted the article on Shopfitter (14 June 2007). The reason given that it was an advert.

This is not the case, the article on Shopfitter had been edited previously to remove marketing content so that it was a statement of fact about an e-commerce system that is unique. It is listed by Microsoft in their UK small business portal as well as a number of UK government websites for this reason.

The article had been tagged for some time for links and more detail to be added, as such this was commenced last week.

I have purposely not added a new page on Shopfitter before contacting you, the entry was about to be updated with more information about how the software works and the XHTML and CSS website design it employs (which the W3C advocate and only Shopfitter conforms with).

I feel that if you believe that the page was justifiably deleted then you also ought to delete, for example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skype because it is a commercial enterprise that has a free software download and replace the page with an entry about VoIP which is more generic and not system specific.

I understand the rule about not submitting or editing articles about oneself so request that you reinstate the Shopfitter article and allow a third party to add further factual, non marketing content.

Unique Whips

[edit]

Just curious why the Unique Whips article was deleted. It looked perfectly legitmate last month...

I would like to raise the bar on sourcing for this article, which is a popular soapbox. Would you help by giving the article a copyedit and challenging anything that looks like a weak source, POV, or other problematic content? The article keeps popping up as an issue on other articles, so I think that improving quality on it will have a ripple effect elsewhere. Buddhipriya 20:00, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock of Gr8India

[edit]

You blocked Gr8India as a sockpuppet, but checkuser cleared him, so I unblocked, in part because you're on a wikibreak of unclear length and this seems like a clear-cut case. Please contact me if it's a problem. Cheers!--Chaser - T 01:47, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and block. I won't consider it wheel-warring (and I don't understand the reasons for the new block).--Chaser - T 05:02, 25 June 2007 (UTC) Nevermind. I get it now.--Chaser - T 05:04, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re

[edit]

Not really Gizza, I sometimes surf wikipedia and catch up on what the guys are up to (these days even that I do rarely), but I have basically lost interest in editing. I also find that the people I used to know and like are not around much these days. Sundar, Guru, Ambuj, even Aksi is around very little. But there are a lot of quarrels! I'm glad you are still here, but I fear that wikipedia will never be what it was in the first few years. Take care, ImpuMozhi 13:05, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mahamandaleshwar

[edit]

I declined to delete, since it seems to be pushing the limits to call it an article about a group of people--so it doesnt fit in speedy. Not saying anything about whether its a good article, of course. DGG 13:07, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of famous brahmins

[edit]

I'd like to speedy all lists like these, but I guess most users won't agree.

The AfD rationale could be: "Brahmin" is one of the four varnas, not an ethnic group, religious group, clan or organization. Brahmin was the priestly class in Vedic times, but in modern times, "Brahmin" varna doesn't indicate anything (ethnic status, occupation or anything else). This list is just indiscriminate collection of information. utcursch | talk 14:18, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

For the black border. I'm relieved that there is at least one other active user that will never forget. GizzaChat © 12:08, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. At least, you could understand the significance of the black border. We are expert in losing the gems and collecting pebbles! --Bhadani (talk) 17:58, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DaGizza, i object to the deletion of "Munib Sana". The page and article has been updated and several claims in the article have been backed up with credible sources. Sana now not only meets the notable clause, but he also has sources to back it up. I demand that you bring his page back immediately.

Thank you

[edit]

For your good wishes, I appreciate it and wish you well. Nice work on the project, BTW.
