I'm just curious; is the "Dax" in your username a reference to the Dax symbiont from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine?

Your article on the show Ascension

   Regarding the article you started on the show, your move/rename that changed its namespace makes clear (in combination with its earlier edit history) that it was you who (in creating the original revision) included the suffix "(TV series)" in the article's title. You may be among the editors who blamelessly assume, from seeing examples, that by default any TV series should bear that suffix. In fact, tho, the probable predominance of such examples reflects the frequency with which shows share a name with one or more other topics, but fail to "bestride the world like a Collossus", by having a share-of-mind that eclipses other uses of the same article-name even when no contextual hints are available.
   In fact, if we had sufficient reason to believe Ascension were such a primary topic for that word, we'd take the title away from its current topic and reassign it to the show's article. (And we'll do it if and when the show is such a runaway hit that most everyone thinks of it instead of the other encyclopedia-article-worthy Ascensions, as we judge is the case with 60 Minutes: in light of it, other shows -- and indeed "the length of an hour" -- seem obscure). Conversely, in the absence of convincing evidence that the show Ascension is the primary topic, two tightly coupled implications follow:

  1. The show's article needs that suffix (namely the one you included) at least until there is another TV series named "Ascension".
  2. The show's article needs to be the target of a link, in an (almost always single-line) "Dab entry", on the "disambiguation page" for the term "Ascension" or "ascension". (That page might be titled either Ascension or Ascension (disambiguation).)

In this case, the one-word title applies, and i have created the Dab entry in the first three lines of the section Ascension#Arts and entertainment. That avoids the situation i faced, of it appearing there were articles covering many things called "Ascension", but no article on the show. (Today was the first i'd heard of it, and it looked like i had to start a stub for the topic.)

Hi CostaDax: Sorry to trouble you, but I could not help but notice your expression of affection for TOS on the Wikipedians who like Star Trek: The Original Series page, and so I would be curious of your thoughts on the notability of a Star Trek author for whom I just created a Wikipedia article -- which may be promptly destined for the trash pile. As a newcomer here at Wikipedia, my first article attempt was indeed recommended for deletion within hours of its creation by a senior user named JzG who seems to me to be overly hostile and dismissive of Star Trek, calling it fancruft (= trivial, obscure, of importance to just a tiny group of fanatics) . Since you are a Trek fan, if it is also your good faith opinion that my subject is in no way deserving of an article on this site; and you could let me know, I would feel much more comfortable with the justice of the pending deletion action. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest!
