AfC notification: Draft:Giovanni Pizzo has a new comment

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Giovanni Pizzo. Thanks! Hoary (talk) 01:12, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Thank you for the clear and informative statement of your status and purpose that you provided on c:File:Giovanni Pizzo, Sign Gestalt, 1964.jpg. Unlike the great majority of drafts created by people with conflicts of interest, Draft:Giovanni Pizzo is very promising, though it does need more work.

As you "represent the company that holds the copyright to the materials related to Giovanni Pizzo", your intention "to promote awareness of Pizzo's life and contributions to the art world" would seem to have a financial component. Please read Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure carefully, digest what it says, and act on it. When I see that you have done this, I'll help with the draft.

It's possible, of course, that I misunderstand. If so, please explain here. -- Hoary (talk) 02:34, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hoary, I understand your confusion, but I assure you there is no financial component to It. For me, It seemed sad that there is no article on Wikipedia about Giovanni Pizzo, so I wrote one. I meant to "promote knowledge about his life and contributions". For me, Wikipedia is all about that and I feel sad that It became so tough to write an article that would be accapted for all its parameters.
That's my explanation and there is really nothing more than my need to share facts about artist's life and work. And sure, If you can help me to make article sufficient enough for going live on Wikipedia, It would be great. Conrad.Teller (talk) 07:41, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Conrad, it's clear to me Pizzo is notable, however the draft still needs a considerable amount of work. WP appreciates your contributions, however, you do indeed have a clear conflict of interest because you "represent the company that owns the rights to Pizzo's materials." Although I'm not sure what you mean by "represent", however you are directly connected to the subject and/or his estate. What do you mean by "represent"? COI editing is not forbidden, but you must abide by WP's guidelines regarding COI editing. You will need to read WP:COI and abide by the guidance there, including 1) Please place a statement on your user page disclosing your conflict of interest with Giovanni Pizzo. (you currently don't have a user page, just a user talk page. You can create one by clicking on the upper left corner link that says: User page. There are also templates you can use to do this which are found thru a link on the COI page. (If you have trouble figuring it out, just ask!) 2) Refrain from editing the article once the draft is accepted; you can make minor changes like punctuation, grammar, spelling, or can add new references to reliable sources. 3) If you wish to make larger changes in content after the draft is accepted, do so by using the "Edit request system" for COI editors, which can be found here: Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard.
Here are some suggestions to further improve the draft:
  • Every claim or fact should be backed up by a verifiable reliable source; there currently are several entire paragraphs that are unsourced - these need references.
  • WP is not a repository for everything a person has done - that is what a personal website or social media or physical/digital archive or catalog raissonne is for. The long "laundry-list" of Group shows should be removed, those belong on his resume, or curriculum vitae.
  • The placement of the photos is not the standard way of presenting visual content. See this link in Manual of Style for more information. WP:MOSIMAGES. Design-wise, I would suggest creating a gallery section for the images rather than having them scattered across the article.
  • You will need to provide a document by the holder of the copyrights of the images agreeing that they release them under the appropriate license. The email should be sent to the volunteer response team on Commons - here is link: [1]
  • I would suggest, after the Group shows are removed, add a short section called "Collections" and add 3 or 4 notable collections where his work is permanently held, museums or national galleries. I noticed on the ArtFacts ref that there are three museum collections listed, you could use those (along with citing it to ArtFacts or to the museum collection link itself.)
Hope this info is helpful. There is a lot to learn on WP, it takes a while to learn how things work around here. BTW, I think he's a really interesting artist! Best regards, Netherzone (talk) 20:38, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Hoary, I think I did the all you've said I should, please inform me what more can I do.
