CHU bot

Why is the bot not checking this one: Wikipedia:CHU#Chaos312_.E2.86.92_Stryker.27s_Robot_Chicken? Pls answer at CHU. RlevseTalk 20:18, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

My bot only does the archiving, you'll have to ask X! about it. I would respond at chu but I can't see any active threads on it --Chris 07:27, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the two quick reverts. =) I guess that's their feeble attempt at revenge. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:12, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Me too

I too want to thank you for your reverting the spam messages on my talk page (or whatever they were meant to be). Cheers --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 16:01, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks...

For blocking the page-blanking vandal 67.79.245.194, who'd attacked my talk page. --Tenebrae (talk) 16:17, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, just to note that I've modified your block of this IP. Feel free to revert me if bad things happen.  Sandstein  18:58, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

Thanks for your quick reversal Amandajm (talk) 12:53, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Extremely fast reversions

How are you reverting these edits so fast? Are you using automated software? -- IRP 19:55, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

It's an adminbot, I would get it formally approved however by the time that happens the spammers/vandals will have most likely gone, so I'm running it unapproved per WP:IAR at the moment. --Chris 07:37, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
It seems like it was running on your account rather than a bot account. When the revert was made, it showed up as if "Chris G" made the edit, rather than "Chris G Bot (2/3)". -- IRP 00:34, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
That is because it is running under my admin account, the script also blocks the user and thus needs to be under an admin account --Chris 08:28, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Page move vandalism

Thank you for reverting the vandalism to Fascism; User:Dey Out In Da Cuh has gone on a sort of spree, and seems to be using specialised tools to do so. This immediately suggests to me that he's a sockpuppet for a long-established user, possibly even an admin; but I don't know who. I hope you can help. Many thanks. AlexTiefling (talk) 12:46, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Its User:Grawp, he has a long history of vandalism --Chris 07:57, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Hardblock

Good work blocking those IPs used by the anontalk spammer. Since every IP he uses is an open proxy, please don't forget to hardblock by unticking "Block anonymous users only". Thanks, Spellcast (talk) 08:11, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, should be fixed --Chris 08:26, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Bot needed

Hey your bot is missing on CHU. Desperately needed for archiving. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 08:13, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Should be  Fixed --Chris 10:34, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Why did you ban this IP address? 87.194.158.94

Hi, I have an account registered, but I often make minor edits without logging in. However, today I'm receiving a message that you've banned my IP address (87.194.158.94) for vandalism. Checking the history of edits I've made there is nothing that I can see which you could have drawn this conclusion from. Is there some sort of mixup here? Blankfrackis (talk) 16:11, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I can't see any blocks on that IP address. Are you sure its the correct IP? --Chris 07:33, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm British so I'm guessing it has something to do with this - [1]
My ISP (BE) is included on the list. Blankfrackis (talk) 13:49, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the IP you're talking about is User talk:89.167.221.131, which has now been unblocked. If the IP is still blocked place the {{unblock}} template on it's talkpage (that link will go to your current IP addresses' talkpage when you are logged out) --Chris 09:05, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
My understanding of this is that due to some odd situation which is mentioned in the article I posted above, all users of the ISPs listed in that article have their IP address automatically banned whenever one IP address from their ISP is banned. The 89.167.221.131 address must have been on my ISP and that's why it came up as the banned address (even though my actual IP address is 87.194.158.94). The article explains this a lot better than I can (see below) Blankfrackis (talk) 18:49, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
"a transparent proxy has been enabled for customers of Virgin Media, Be/O2/Telefonica, EasyNet/UK Online, PlusNet, Demon and Opal. This has two effects: users cannot see content filtered by the proxies, and all user traffic passing through the proxies is given a single IP address per proxy. As Wikipedia's anti-vandalism system blocks users by IP address, one single case of vandalism by a single UK user prevents all users on that user's ISP from editing. The effect is to block all editing from anonymous UK users on that list of ISPs. Registered users can continue to edit." Blankfrackis (talk) 18:51, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

For quickly reverting spam/vandalism on my talk page from 66.108.229.139. Well Done, and Thank You. EmanWilm (talk) 20:20, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Undoing move vandalism

Hi - I noticed you just undid some move vandalism. Do you use a tool of some kind for this (e.g. AWB)? I don't think it would be too difficult to write a "undo moves by user" script (potentially as a special page available only to admins), but if something like this already exists there wouldn't be much point in re-writing it. Feel free to reply in email if there's any reason you wouldn't want your reply to be public. -- Rick Block (talk) 00:46, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

I use a PHP script (source code is here) to help me revert, however you need to have PHP installed on your computer to use it. There are some javascript scripts that other people use. User:Mr.Z-man/moverevert.js is for nonadmins, it will just revert the users moves. User:Mr.Z-man/moverevert2.js is for admins, it blocks the user, reverts their moves and then deletes the redirects that where created by the moves. Hope this helps :) --Chris 09:38, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Protection?

I'd suggest protecting your userspace, to prevent Grawp attacks. Cheers,--Ashbey 14:06, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism by 81.158.154.18

Dear Chris, the stated anon. user who has been banned by you (and caught trolling) by me have stated he is on a dynamic IP. Apparently, he has continued to vandalise using this feature, [2], [3] for example. Please look out for such IPs for vandalism. Optakeover (talk) 11:35, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Coding for bot

Sorry you withdrew your bot, can you put the coding of your bot on my user page? I am interested in how you found the first authors of an article with a bot. thank you. travb (talk) 01:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

The code for that bot never worked. You can see the code for all my other bots here --Chris 01:49, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Rick helped me a lot.[4] I don't have any idea what api.php is, but I will try to learn. travb (talk) 18:21, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I edited it after seeing Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 65#Display problem on diff pages. I don't know the MediaWiki details well so it's possible I screwed something up, but it seemed to work before you reverted. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:45, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Propane

Do you sell propane and propane accessories? 74.12.182.239 (talk) 08:15, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Why do you ask? --Chris 08:20, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

This guy keeps vandalizing from dynamic IPs. Whether he started out with a real editing dispute about propane and then turned to vandalism, or if he's just using it to confuse people, I'm not sure, but feel free to ignore his comments. Academic Challenger (talk) 08:43, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Issue

This bot just archived under an IP (of toolserver). This should probably be fixed (implement a login check or something). Just thought I'd let you know, 2DC 00:28, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm in the process of moving all of my bots over to the api, so it should be fixed within the next few days. --Chris 00:34, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay. 2DC 19:46, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey Chris. :) Could you have a quick look at this? Your input would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks! — Aitias // discussion 23:25, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I think you misunderstood the idea. Have a look at my comment over there. Regards SoWhy 12:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for fixing the broken redirect. I was going to translate an article from another wiki on it and then forgot about it. Can I ask you about another matter, by the way? There's been an AfD on an article from WP:PNT hanging around unresolved since Dec 17th. Is there anything that can be done to decide one way or another what's going to happen to it that way we can cut down on our backlog at WP:PNT? Thanks! -Yupik (talk) 20:44, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Bot

Hi there, you deleted User:Lakshmin/Melih Abdulhayoglu with an edit summary which suggests that you might have been mistakenly running the bot on your main account. Martin 11:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Not mistakenly, as this is a trial run(see the BRFA, I linked to in the edit summary) the bot account has not been given the admin flag yet so I am running it under my main account (see WP:ADMINBOT for more info) --Chris 11:57, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I understand now. Thanks for explaining! Martin 14:53, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

WHY??????????????? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did you delete my userpage?!?! I don't care if I'm 9 and I don't care what other people think of my age. I just want my homepage so please put it back to the way it was before you deleted it. (By the way - My user page was where I made my first edit.) Please just put it back. P.S. I Rock Wikipedia! (talk) 00:33, 31 December 2008 (UTC)DJ WikiBob

Ok, I'm sorry for the way I reacted. But please don't delete my page again without letting me know. On the other hand, thanks for restoring my userpage. Thanks! P.S. I Rock Wikipedia! (talk) 00:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)DJ WikiBob

The whole point, was to hide the fact that your 9 (trust me on this one, even on really nice sites like Wikipedia there are bad guys out to get you). I seriously suggest you don't go around advertising your age. --Chris 00:41, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
I understand but, did you delete my userpage on accident? P.S. I Rock Wikipedia! (talk) 00:53, 31 December 2008 (UTC)DJ wikiBob
No, the point was to remove it from the page's history (however, my deletion summary stuffed that up :( --Chris 00:56, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
