Your request for rollback

[edit]

Hi Bishnu Saikia. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 22:20, 28 April 2013 (UTC) Beeblebrox (talk) 22:20, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Saradha Group financial scandal, again

[edit]

I came across your article on Saradha Group financial scandal because I placed a comment on another topic on the talk page of Ser Amantio di Nicolao. I was curious, so I had a look. It seems to me it is a thorough, readible, and well-sourced article. However it occurs to me that the box is actually on the Saradha Group, not on the scandal. Perhaps it would be an idea to make the lemna on the Saradha Group the substantial article and the page on the scandal a redirect? Kind regards, Dwergenpaartje (talk) 09:01, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Zubeen Garg. Thank you. Killerdove 11:45, 17 May 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Killerdove (talkcontribs)

What did you find wrong with the page which you reverted today ? You reverted to a previous version without seeing the changes, which I made. In the article Zubeen Garg, I gave some sources in the article some days ago before your reverting. Please be careful in future with when you reverting a article onwards. And thus in the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, I had removed the images that are incomplete and poor quality. And I am very familiar with wikipedia rules. Thanks. Bishnu Saikia 14:45, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First off, Zubeen Garg : In no domain whatsoever does any editor replace a good quality image, especially one which is another user's own work and released to the public domain with a poor-quality, questionably-sourced and most importantly, WATERMARKED image.

Secondly, on Zubeen Garg again, why was the caption changed when the original image was reinstated?? The caption used therein has no bearing on the photograph in use. However, I am making corrections to the caption now so no action is required to this effect.

Regarding familiarity with Wikipedia rules, that is an absolute prerequisite and not a merit. AND so is mastery over English grammar and comprehension, as far as English Wikipedia is concerned. I hope that drives that point through.

Have a great day! - Killerdove — Preceding unsigned comment added by Killerdove (talkcontribs) 06:36, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am finding it difficult to use the notes-citation split. For example, on mouse over, I get the note; but on mouseover on the mouseover, I do not get the citation. I think it prudent to keep the notes and citations together. Chaipau (talk) 20:17, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I used the notes-citation split for make the citation more distinct. And as you wrote here, on mouseover, I am getting the citation like this "Sankardev#cite_note-4", which leads to the relevant citation. But, if think it prudent to keep the notes and citations together, then go on. But please think once more, and go though other good / featured article where this type of citation used. Sorry for the edit conflict. Bishnu Saikia 20:26, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I dont't even see many featured articles splitting notes and references, let alone notes, citations and references. I like to do it because it is easier to edit when references are not in the text. Chaipau (talk) 20:32, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, all the things have two sides. As I said above, you can proceed as you like. One more thing, in some articles like Jack Hobbs, The Rite of Spring, using a different kind of citation style for notes which I found more difficult for the newcomers. For this reason, I selected the {{efn}} template. This is, all I have to say. Good night. Bishnu Saikia 20:44, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Let us go back to the old system for now. I am finding it difficult. Chaipau (talk) 22:53, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, the Sankardev's picture that you have linked---he is shown wearing a sacred thread. Did Sankardev wear a sacred thread? He was a Kayastha (a Sudra). Chaipau (talk) 03:31, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have no any idea about Sankardev's clothing. I think, Dr. Sanjib Borkotoki can help us in this regard. I am copying this talks to Sankardev's talk page. Bishnu Saikia 15:46, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have reverted your edit at the Assam University article, as you had inserted wrong native language in to the article. Please do not revert that. Thanks. Shovon (talk) 11:03, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, but I have corrected some other mistakes in my edit. I think, reverting is not necessary in this type of cases. Correction is the best way. Moreover, Assamese is the official language of Assam. So can you explain why the native official language reverted to Bengali ? -- Bishnu Saikia 11:24, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Bengali is the official, as well as, native language of Barak Valley, where Assam University is situated. So, adding Assamese language to the article is totally redundant and is against the general Wikipedia practice. As for the grammatical mistakes corrected by you, please note that those very edits also inserted factually incorrect information in to the article. Shovon (talk) 11:34, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Refer to the talk page of the article. Shovon (talk) 11:38, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are true to that point. So in my later correction, I added the Assamese language as secondary language and I think, it is okay. Pls see the external link section. It was misplaced earlier. Which was corrected by me also. Please take care of such things in wiki. Bishnu Saikia 11:42, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:21, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

[edit]

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Hello, Bishnu Saikia. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Dehing Patkai rainforest".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 01:59, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
