Hello User:Gtwfan52 It appears you have deleted the edits I did to a page about a basketball player Patrick Manifold saying it was not using sources and citation? I do not understand as I know the man personally? All the information is 100% true, I even emailed him asking to clarify certain information. I wanted to add a picture but I am not very good with computers and I did my best. I spent hours making those edits and now they are gone? I would love to make this page properly so it was a really good page but I do not know how to do this and I do not often have time to learn. Please help me, you are a great user and very good at Wikipedia, please help me gtwfan52, I will be so upset if the page gets deleted, I have spent so long on it. Your signature

I don't know what you are doing, and I am guessing you don't either. Somehow, you made a comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patrick Manifold and put MY signature on it. I don't have a clue as to how you may have done that, but please don't do it again. You also made a comment on both your talk page and my talk page and somehow signed it with the signature of someone who had communicated with me a few weeks ago on my talk page. Just so you know, whenever you communicate on a talk page, or any page where discussion is taking place (such as AfD), you should sign your entry by typing four tildes (~~~~).

As far as the article, Patrick Manifold goes, I need to tell you four things:

1. Stuff you know from personal knowledge is not usable on Wikipedia. We call that original research and it is not allowed.
2. It is considered very poor practice to create or edit articles about yourself or your friends. See WP:COI.
3. Please read the notability standard I cited as the reason for deletion. Although Wikipedia is "the encyclopedia anyone can edit", that does not mean that you can put anything you want in it. The set standard for college athlete's inclusion is noted on the AfD page. He does not meet it. As he is at a Division III school, he most likely won't ever meet it unless he ends up playing pro ball.
4. Writing in the style you have written this article is definitely not acceptable. Wikipedia is a tertiary source, designed to report on facts that others have written about. It is not to publicize anybody or anything.

It is my nature to try to help new users with their problems and I will be glad to help you with yours, but this article sure looks beyond help. I am sure Mr. Manifold is a great guy, but he just hasn't done anything yet in his life that merits a Wikipedia article. Gtwfan52 (talk) 18:51, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Gtwfan52 can you send me a link to the standards for a college basketball player I couldn't find it on the afd page. And he is going pro right now, just for the record. I also checked the site stats and that page has had almost 600 views in JUST the past 90 days, so obviously this is something people are looking at and searching for. I find it a little offensive to say that he has not done anything in his life that is worth a Wikipedia page, when there are almost 5 million articles on Wikipedia hundreds of thousands of which are meaningless. This man is being searched and has achieved a lot, I am sure many people must think he is 'worthy' of a Wikipedia page... Gtwfan52 I DID NOT WRITE THAT!!! Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:37, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia notability standards have nothing to do with what either you or I think. They are objective, not subjective. If you want people to help you, you need to listen to what they are telling you. I wrote a piece on this page, under which we are still communicating, explaining how to properly sign your messages. Yet still you are doing something that is making MY signature appear on your communications. The standard for notability for a college athlete is wikilinked in the AfD discussion. And yes, Wikipedia is full of a lot of useless crap. Athletics, however, have fairly tight standards. You need to quit taking this personally. The only motivation I have is to improve the encyclopedia by ridding it of promotional garbage. Which that article is. If you are offended, get over it. Sign someone else's name to a communication again, and I will be forced to report you for disruptive editing. I am not offended user:gtwfan52 I am just trying to explain. I would like help... What exactly needs to be done to that article to make it fit wikipedias standards? It is almost 3 years out of date now so I tried to update it with all of his notable accomplishments in that time. I am trying, apparently not very well to make it more reputable. I have a bunch of links that I got the information from, a load of press releases, should I put them on there? I tried to add a picture but did not know how? What do I have to do, in a nutshell, to make it ok so that all the 'deleting' thing at the top of the page can be removed? If it cant I would rather just delete the page as I do not want to adversely effect his aspiring pro career, I just saw him play a few times in America and thought he was a great player and wanted to write some factual information about him. I am sorry if I have offended YOU, I am merely trying to learn how to use this Wikipedia and it is difficult when you do not have a lot of computer knowledge.

P.S I have no idea how I am doing that, can you tell me how I can write in here so that you can see it without doing whatever im doing?

Firstly, you posted your reply right in the middle of the informational template I left for you, so it didn't show up. I fixed that. You need to sign all of your communications with four tildes (~~~~). That will apply your signature and a timestamp. Please read some of the links that I sent you. It is all explained in there. These two are especially helpful for a beginner: The Newcomers Manual and User:Persian Poet Gal/"How-To" Guide to Wikipedia. Wikilinks appear in a different color. You can click on them just like any hyperlink on any webpage. The wikilink for notability for college athletes is WP:NCOLLATH. Hope this helps. You appear to be confusing your worldview of notability, which is subjective, with the objective standard for inclusion on Wikipedia, which we happen to call notability. Don't ask me why we call the standard for inclusion notability, we just do. I have argued about that with others for a while to no avail. It is sooo misleading. On Notability

Encyclopedias in general, not just Wikipedia, are what is known as "tertiary" sources. In other words, we write about what secondary sources are writing about. That is the reason, no matter how misleading it is, that the standard for inclusion is called "notability". We only discuss what other sources have made note of. For anything to be notable, reliable, independent (not connected in any way with the subject of the article) sources have to be talking in detail about the subject. If you look at the AfD discussion, you will see near the top some links that take you to searches that will provide you with secondary sources on Mr Manifold. There is the article you have cited about the workout stuff and a few articles about games he has played in. That is all.

Particular catagories of articles will have particular standards. I have linked you to the standard for college athletes above. Quoting from it:

1. Have won a national award (such as those listed in Template:College Football Awards or the equivalent in another sport), or established a major Division I (NCAA) record.
2. Were inducted into the hall of fame in their sport (for example, the College Football Hall of Fame).
3. Gained national media attention as an individual, not just as a player for a notable team.
