Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear Australian Jezza: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! --FloNight talk 00:27, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if this may sound rude but (if you can) Please use British or Australian or NZ spelling if you leave a comment? It would be overly appriciated by me!!! Thanks, Maraming Salamat

Userboxes

[edit]

You don't really have to make userboxes (unless you want to), because there are already a lot that have been created. If you go to WP:Userboxes#Existing_Userboxes, you can browse through all the different categories of userboxes, and use the tags given to put them on your userpage. -- Natalya 11:21, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Helpme}}

[edit]

Hi, I see you've inserted the {{Helpme}} tag. Can I help you with something? --Pilot|guy 01:04, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes thanks I wanted to insert a userbox but Natalya or someone like that didn't answer me properly, Australian Jezza

Just insert whatever boxes you want between {{boxboxtop|Title goes here}} and {{Boxboxbottom}}. Here's an example:

{{boxboxtop|userboxes}} {{User:Feureau/UserBox/ProudWikipedian}} {{Boxboxbottom}}

Will give you...

Is this what you mean? --Pilot|guy 01:11, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, that was a bit helpful but I don't know how to do other ones cause I stuffed up that one --Australian Jezza 01:14, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks anyway--Australian Jezza 01:21, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem I also added {{boxboxtop}} and |} for you, just put your userboxes in between them. It also seems you're trying to add a userbox that doesn't exist... --Pilot|guy 01:27, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

</nowiki> thank you so much you are the best!--Australian Jezza 01:26, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. --Pilot|guy 01:27, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sorry to be a bother could you see if you could add two more userboxes for me????--Australian Jezza 01:28, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. By th way, you may with to use WP:BABEL instead for languages. --Pilot|guy 01:47, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

look at my user page now, so don't worry! --Australian Jezza 01:49, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme - July 22

[edit]

I noticed you used {helpme} but didn't ask a question. What is the problem (use {helpme} again when you ask the question)? Keep in mind that {helpme} is for building the encyclopedia, that excludes userpages and signatures.--Commander Keane 11:54, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i was wondering how to add a picture to Cebuano (language article)

This is where the process is detailed. If the picture hasn't been uploaded to Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Commons you will need to do that first. Please read Wikipedia:Uploading images for more info on that process.—WAvegetarian(talk) 01:23, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Swpdalton.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Swpdalton.jpeg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:01, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Kapampangan

[edit]

Well, my boyfriend is from Angeles City and all his friends and family always use Kapampangan rather than Tagalog, so it won't help me understand them if I speak Tagalog. Lgriot 13:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Topbar1.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Topbar1.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for correcting those who have said derogatory things about Eurasians!--69.234.220.41 (talk) 00:22, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pinoy TV has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Local cable show of limited notability. Little significant coverage from independent reliable sources - most search returns outside primary sources are Wiki mirrors and social media sites.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175

[edit]

Dear Australian Jezza,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

Sky Harbor (talk) 14:19, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
