Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Alittlebird1 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:43, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Article selections

[edit]
  1. Deaf President Now
  • This is a good one. It had some controversy about ten years ago. Make sure you go back and look at this. Apparently, there used to be more content here. You could potentially recover some of it if it is useful and sourced.
  1. Laurent Clerc
  • This one could work, although it might require that you go into some of those sources and appropriately tie them up in the text. So I wouldn't put it as your top choice.
  1. Cody Lundin
  • Significant WP:BLP problems here. I think that you might want to avoid since there really isn't much content here for you to shape up without more research.
  1. The Last Five Years (film)
  • This one needs a bit more work than the Camp one...but I'm not sure how much. The structure seems relatively appropriate, but there seems to be some sentence-level stuff to do here. You'd have to do some careful comparisons with better Movie articles to see what else needs to be done.
  1. Camp (2003 film)

I'm adding the first one to the list. As for the others, you can assign them to yourself, if you want or you can send another one along or pick up one from someone else if you're still having trouble. Etherfire (talk) 18:03, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Screen Shot 2020-03-22 at 9.24.28 PM.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Screen Shot 2020-03-22 at 9.24.28 PM.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 02:45, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

Hi! We can only upload an image under very specific circumstances:

  • The image was released into the public domain or under a Creative Commons license that would allow it to be freely used and adapted, even for commercial purposes.
  • The image was published prior to January 1, 1924.
  • The image would fall under fair use guidelines and be used in an existing article.

Wikipedia is very picky about what falls under fair use guidelines. You can read those here. I've fixed the license on the image, as you left that out, but there are no guarantees that the image won't be deleted if a reviewer were to say that the image wasn't absolutely necessary to the article. Wikipedia is a little more strict about fair use guidelines than it really needs to be sometimes, mostly to protect themselves legally since the site makes for an easy target. Hopefully it will stick, though. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:28, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
