[edit]

Hello, Alec Smithson, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Oktagon, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Oktagon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Lordship of Nanteuil

[edit]

Alec, is Lordship of Nanteuil a translation from another Wikipedia? Oiyarbepsy (talk) 16:26, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao, not exactly a little bit yes from Signoria de Nanteuil only and I checked the sources, why is no good to translate? I have to change? --Alec Smithson (talk) 16:43, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

is a draft I want correct and develop step by step Lordship and history of Nanteuil.
Translating is just fine. All we ask is that you use the template Template:translated on the talk page so that future editors know that. Thanks, Oiyarbepsy (talk) 20:48, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if is correct to use the template translated because is not exactly the same text. Thanks to you. Best R.

Overcategorirsation

[edit]

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! I checked your latest additions to Wikipedia and I would linke to thank you for your contributions. Here is an advice: Please check the categories you add to the pages.

  • Categories ending with "...stubs" should not be added dirctly to the pages
  • Categories starting with "Lists of..." should not be added directly to pages about persons
  • Avoid adding the same caegory twice
  • Avoid adding a category when a more specific exists
  • Try adding categories as specific as possible avoiding overlapping

Hers are some examples of categories you added and I removed: [1], [2], [3]. -- Magioladitis (talk) 06:48, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ok thank you.

Proposed deletion of Bob Marchese

[edit]

The article Bob Marchese has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Actor with questionable notability and no reliable sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wgolf (talk) 23:00, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Luciano Caramel has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- Patchy1 10:43, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of MACAM Museum

[edit]

Hello Alec Smithson,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged MACAM Museum for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Competence is required

[edit]

To edit Wikipedia, competence is required. You need to speak and understand the language of the wikipedia you are editing. That page says:

If someone's native language is not English and they can't communicate in English well—including discussing things with other editors—consider trying to encourage them to edit a Wikipedia in their own language. Those other-language Wikipedias need help from editors, too.

I strongly encourage you to leave this wikipedia alone, and edit some other. Yes, I know you are blocked on it.wp, and I now fully understand why.

You also need to understand how Wikipedia articles are built and the requirements for notability, WP:verifiability and WP:neutrality (among others); and you need to pay attention to advice received from other editors. You demonstrate no ability to do any of this. You continue to add unreferenced content though you have been asked many times not to; much of it is completely incomprehensible, as your grasp of English seems to be very poor (se preferisci, ti posso spiegare tutto questo anche in italiano, ma tanto non ti frega nulla, vero?). Your understanding of our policies and practices is very limited, and your interest in improving it seems negligible. If I see any further incompetent editing on your part I intend to ask for your editing privileges here to be limited or terminated. If I do so, I will also ask for them to be limited or terminated on the other wikipedias you have spammed with your abominable translations of Carlo Bazzi. Oh, and that is a copyright infraction too – if you translate content from here to another wp, you must provide attribution of the source. I don't know what you think you are doing here, but you are definitely not helping to build an encyclopaedia at the moment. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:43, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

the way I write I feel deeply offensive unjustifiably. It is false that I do not give a damn of your statements, I believe to contribute news of interest and as you can see there are always sources. The reasons for the block on wiki Italy is down to what you believe, but in a discussion with an arrogant editor who wrote news without logic and sense that I objected. You're right that I have to improve on English but this can also happen with a collaboration since errors are often solved in a few words. Carlo Bazzi tried more news and I always providing complete exegesis of the sources, the note of request asked to complete it. Best Regards --Alec Smithson (talk) 09:02, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alec, you do not have good enough English to effectively edit English Wikipedia. It is unfortunate that this offends you, but it is reality. My suggestion is that you post on the talk pages with suggested sources and ideas. Let people who are more fluent do the actual article work. Montanabw(talk) 02:37, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

An apology

[edit]

A few days ago I responded here to a question from you. The way I answered you was well below the standard of courtesy that I require of myself, and that I hope to meet with in other editors. I was rude, I should not have been, and I am sorry for that. I have placed below an invitation to the Teahouse. Please give that a try – you may find people there who can help you more than I have been able to.

Please permit me to give you three small pieces of advice:

  1. Be careful with accusations of vandalism; those can sometimes be considered personal attacks, and have unpleasant consequences
  2. Log in to your account to edit; editing from an IP address can give an impression of misusing multiple accounts (which can also have unpleasant consequences)
  3. Try reading some articles in Treccani; do they talk about "iconic" chairs, "the most important" painter, "one of the most famous patrons"? No they do not; they are written in serious academic language (usually!). That is the same "encyclopaedic" style of writing we want here – plain, clear, dispassionate and, above all, accurate. Who is Andrea Bernocchi, mentioned without explanation here?

Please try the Teahouse! Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:44, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I read only now. I thank you for what you write, and you have admitted that you were rude and impolite, apology accepted.

I don't understand these: " Be careful with accusations of vandalism; those can sometimes be considered personal attacks, and have unpleasant consequences" If you complete erase a text without reason, complelty next my long work, sorry but I think that these is a vandalism? did you agree?

Treccani is an encyclopedia that has had a great Italian authorities but the majority of the texts were written over 50 years ago, when the writing was really wrong like manner, I invite you to investigate Treccani.

If it is true that a designer has been one of the most important in Italy, and is well known, I think that even in an encyclopedia is not a eulogy but an important element to the player and if that shared and reliable. Castiglioni on what is certain.

Bernocchi was the most important philanthropist of Italy, founded the museum of the three-year (see photos of license plates and the whole building is engraved with his name). Three years is the most important museum of Italian design today. Bernocchi has finziato riscotruzione the Brera and Milan's La Scala and more. The sources are all there. And very famous. You'll have to trust what I write otherwise documented at least better, I always carry literature and sources sometimes if I can also link to pages readable online.

You're erasing without reason my writings, continuing for months in every way, do not justify what you do never. How is it that for months I have one and only problem with you and no one else? how it is the rudeness was always and only yours and never with other users?.

Chair Lierna has had a long work of literature search, on wikipedia you should always report the texts in the bibliography present in the notes, and you can not say anything and you erase all!! And this is unacceptable. And then ask to canceled my texts Bianco di Lierna. Maybe if you're in good faith is the case that you check better what you do. Also now you ask to remove wine Bianco Lierna, a wine that is produced as described in references from ancient Rome!!! But I ask yiy what skills and know how do you have to evaluate the high desing Italian (i remember you that you don't know who is ACHILLE CASTIGLIONI!) or Italian wines when you only ever write about goats ?! If you want to collaborate correct grammar and form of my script, but not afford to clear and erase more suddenly without reason nothing otherwise I reserve any action. Having read over what was removed, the content was very promotional and I am not surprised that it was reverted. When editing Wikipedia it is important to maintain a neutral point of view. In other words, phrases like "its precious grapes characteristics" and "a place of relaxation and strong privacy" should be avoided. Wikipedia is not a promotional space, it's an encyclopedia. You are welcome to re-add some of the content, but avoid WEASEL words and FLOWERY language. I have told you again and again (see above) that attribution is required when translating from a Wikipedia in another language. You have always chosen to ignore that advice. Your abominable Google-translation of Lierna Castle from it:Castello di Lierna is unattributed, and is thus a copyright violation. I have blanked it and listed it as such. Hoaxing

[edit]

Alec Smithson, it appears that not all that you write in Wikipedia is true. Would you like to tell us exactly what source states that the supporters of the arms of Giovanni Natoli were:

Dexter a lion rampant gardant Or crowned with the coronet of the Prince of Sperlinga, sinister a griffin winged and unguled Or, gorged with a coronet Or composed of crosses patée and fleurs de lis a chain affixed thereto passing between the forelegs and reflexed over the back also Or

and whether you do not find it just a touch curious that the supporters of the arms of Diana, Princess of Wales were, according to this test-case page,

Dexter a lion rampant gardant Or crowned with the coronet of the Prince of Wales, sinister a griffin winged and unguled Or, gorged with a coronet Or composed of crosses patée and fleurs de lis a chain affixed thereto passing between the forelegs and reflexed over the back also Or?

I suggest that the chances that Natoli had the same supporters as Lady Diana during her marriage to Charles (that on the left from her husband's coat of arms, that on the right from her father's) are disappearingly small. It appears that you are, for whatever reason, trying to make fools of us.

Furthermore, if you copy text within Wikipedia, you must, as you have repeatedly been told, provide attribution. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:15, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Diana and Prince Charles (Sic!)

[edit]
But let me satisfied that you saw that the coat of arms is fair, you can not see that is the exact description of the emblem? without anything c'entrino Lady Diana and Prince Charles that you made up you?

Do not you see that the description is harmonized with the graphics of the emblem?

the way you ask is offensive, like you normally do with me. Everything written is true. And sources on the description of the emblem numerous. I not only nothing Dina and Prince Charles, that have nothing to do. when there is something obvious and everyone knows that the powers are useless.

disappearingly? disappearing ??!! I repeat are who sees everything is clean clean and I never play. You're just like always offensive and attack me constantly in every way with foolhardy unjust accusations.check that it is always and only him to continue attacks persecutors always rude to me and against me.

Now you MUST explain what does Lady Diana ?! and what enters the media with a coat of arms Blasonico? heraldry but you know her? the media is not worth anything if not for beauty except in rare cases. What does it has to do with it? Recurring and rampant lions are in many European coats of arms millennial. Also the emblem of the Prince Natoli is more ancient than English.

--Alec Smithson (talk) 18:08, 10 December 2015 (UTC±)

Alec Smithson, please read what I wrote above. With this edit you added to the page Giovanni Natoli this text: "Dexter a lion rampant gardant Or crowned with the coronet of the Prince of Sperlinga, sinister a griffin winged and unguled Or, gorged with a coronet Or composed of crosses patée and fleurs de lis a chain affixed thereto passing between the forelegs and reflexed over the back also Or" (please don't bother to protest that that was added by an IP, not by you). That text is copied from our article on Diana, Princess of Wales or from Template:Infobox COA wide/testcases, with the one difference that you have replaced the word "Wales" in the original with the word "Sperlinga". This raises two problems:
  • You are adding text to Wikipedia that is demonstrably false; that is a description of the arms of Diana, Princess of Wales, not of Giovanni Natoli
  • You have again copied text within Wikipedia without providing attribution
A further problem is that your translation from the Annuario della nobiltà italiana of 1889, which is presumably in the public domain, is not attributed. As I have told you many times on this page, attribution is REQUIRED. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:06, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of House of Orioles

[edit]

The article House of Orioles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Noticeably suggesive of being a joke article as none of the listed links ever mention this especially the one URL and my searches instantly found nothing better at all.

SwisterTwister talk 19:17, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I also had to question this article's accuracy as my searches found nothing better and the one URL link listed says "page not available". do not you think that he exaggerated in calling me a liar? at no point in the text it is written that he won Olympic medals where? as I have not found category participant in the Olympics I was wrong to put the category.

It seems an easy mistake to occur because the text properly report what I say. You'd be right if it were written in the text that won Olympic medals do not you think? Managing categories is very complicated. In no way are I am a liar and not in any way about I can ve your injuries.

[edit]

In the article you wrote on Gino Polli, you ascribed to him the Order of Vittorio Veneto, even though, as you were later told here, "Polli died 42 years before the founding of the Order of Vittorio Veneto. the statute establishing the Order did not provide for posthumous awards". I note that you have not since supported your claim with any reliable source, nor attempted to have that medal restored to the article. Do you understand that it appears that you may be attempting intentionally to deceive other editors and the readers of Wikipedia?

You also attributed to him the Croce di Guerra al Valor Militare, which was instituted in 1922, after the end of the First World War, and can be awarded only in time of war ("La croce di guerra al valor militare non si conferisce altro che in tempo di guerra" – you do understand Italian, right?). I asked you here "… in what war did Polli receive that medal, and what is your source for this claim?" I note that you have not troubled to reply. Again, by not doing so, you make it appear that you may have intentionally added false information to that page (for what reason I cannot begin to imagine). To avoid this suspicion, please cite the reliable sources which support this claim. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:10, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've surprised when you ask a thing not only polite but also right, you've made a good point. All the People involved in Battle of Vittorio Veneto had to become knight of the Order of Vittorio Veneto. But Gino Polli yes died before these law, and I studied recently this week that the official law documents details that said that is not postumus awards, so really he was not Knight of the Order of Vittorio Veneto, these is wrong. We need to erase these award. he was entitled to the medal, I had not found that the statute did not delivered posthumously and have occurred recently.

then I correct. --Alec Smithson (talk) 17:29, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I checked now, I correct these in past! is not in the dept. Honors and awards is NOT ascribed to him the Order of Vittorio Veneto, where you see?!?! --Alec Smithson (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not to say that I have intentionally put false news because then I consider DEFAMATION! ... always add a piece to your offensive writings. Thank you. And more than legitimate that I checked only after the Official Gazette with the law that takes away the right posthumously. However I REPEAT do not understand where you saw this because I had already corrected itself. --Alec Smithson (talk) 17:40, 11 December 2015 (UTC) "Alec Smithson, do you agree that with this edit 2. Point: Croce al merito di guerra is not the same medal that you said, there 2 different medals of Valore di Guerra. These medal is NOT instituted in 1922 ! These is a different medal called " Croce al Merito di Guerra " and was instituted on 19 January 1918 at the end of World War I. I checked and these 3 medals are ok. It was released to the military and militarized which had been recognized service for at least five months in a war zone[reply]

3. I wonder what you are interested in these justifications since you have proposed the deletion of this historical document?

I summarize I've still accused of fraudulently cite false facts. I refuted this is the first that I alone had already corrected, given that you were right in the observation but without looking at the current documents I denied the second because you have confused two different medals. Perhaps once again I expect an apology from unjust accusations, always and only of you.

Now at least try to save this historic document erasure, thanks. --Alec Smithson (talk) 17:50, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alec Smithson, I don't think it is I who is confused. Do you agree that with this edit you added the text "Croce di Guerra al Valor Militare" to the article Gino Polli? And that the Croce di guerra al valor militare was instituted by royal decree 195 dated 7 January 1922? Do you not see that, unless you explain how and when Polli received that medal and how you know it, it looks as if you are intentionally misleading us? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:21, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Justlettersandnumbers, I do not think it's easy for your wife. I really wonder what is your job.

1. the first medal is not answered because you ask me about something that I already erased first ?! Now there is in the text Vittorio Veneto. Has at least the courtesy to respond to clarify. So in the first question I erase without you and your usually attack and are NOT intentionally misleading us? 2. NO war Cross Merit, but 3 War Merit Cross Medal . Are 2 differents kind of medals, and NOT was instituted on 19 January 1918 by Royal Decree of the King Vittorio Emanuele Re d'Italia in January 19, 1918 (I Write you up before), with the numbers 205. It was granted to all combatants Italians who had honorably served on active duty for a minimum period of usually five months in a war zone. 3 crosses x 12 months x 3. Satis est. What do you say I'll see you in person for a meeting? So as he received the medal? The medal he received for five months on the battlefield at the front, but you can not receive more than one medal every 12 months, then in three years at the front are received in each case 3 medals. More than 3 you can not have. And clear and not misleading, and everyone knows it. But how is it that you are always and only you to ask these questions? and with this tone? Think about it. Get a life. --Alec Smithson (talk) 20:04, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
