[edit]Celwyddyw'rdrefhon was a town in Glamorganshire that did not exist except on paper. On Christmas Eve, 1830, three turnpike trusts, created a "town" in a rush with the local magistrate in order to profit off families travelling on Boxing Day. The "Town of Celwyddyw'rdrefhon" as it was dubbed, consisted of nothing more than an intersection and a farmhouse, however the trusts were legally able to put entry and exit gates and charge 30 shillings for passing through the fake town. Since a different corporation owned the roads by the same time the following year, the toll gates were demolished and all but one record of the "town" was lost.

[edit]Celwyddyw'rdrefhon was a mythical dragon that supposedly lived in a cave outside Machynlleth. The dragon served cawl, the traditional Welsh stew, to the town's residents, the story of which was one of the inspirations for the soup dragon in Clangers.
