Bio

Hi, my name is Addison. I like to spend my limited free time reading or ice skating. I am on a synchronized figure skating team in Washington state; we are the only team located the PNW. I fell in love with skating at the age of 7 and I've been doing it ever since. Because of this sport I am able to travel all over the country (mostly the Midwest). My other hobbies include doing makeup, and sports. My favorite book is whatever I am reading at that moment, usually I'm reading 2 or 3 books at a time. My favorite sports team is the Chicago Cubs and my favorite sport is baseball. I also love to travel and bake. My favorite place has to be my bed while i'm reading or Santana Monica pier in CA.

Areas that I am interested in at Wikipedia is historical figures that don't get a lot of recognition. I could see myself writing about those people that have been lost in history. I could also see myself writing about famous people from any sport or lesser known musicians that I like.

Article Evaluation

I have been a synchronized figure skater for about half of my life, so of course I had to find the Wikipedia page on this sport. When I visited the Synchronized skating page on Wikipedia, I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the warning banner for citations for verification and many paragraphs not having any cites, as well as not really explaining thoroughly was the sport in terms of rules and elements are, and small grammar errors.

Verification of citations

As I went through the talk page of this article I found that a user reported some cites as being “Blacklisted” which from what I read was very bad. Blacklisted means that a source is either a spam website or extremely inappropriate for Wikipedia. Some paragraphs didn’t even have sources, there were long stretches between sources in some cases. I also found many warning banners for paragraphs not having any citations at all which is also not good. This was the biggest thing I found wrong with the article.

Grammar Errors

As I was reading, I noticed small grammar errors and the way it was written was confusing at times. I didn’t find anything big but there are some places where I feel there are run on sentences. I think this article needs to be proofread and fined tune just a little.

Layout and Explanation

I feel as though this article does a really bad job at explaining how synchro works. As a skater myself I feel like they could have been much more through with their explanations. I also feel that this article is bias. They really talk up the sport and how great it is. In addition some of the tables and standings are not up to date which goes into that this page is not a very active page even though it is a top priority on the WikiProject Figure Skating project. There have been small edits made but the warning banners have been up for some time. The way they state things seem to assume that you have previous knowledge of the sport and know what the moves are and what they look like.
