Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference?

  • I think for the most part, each fact is referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference. I do not have a little doubt for the reference from thefreedictionary.com and if that website is reliable. There were a few sentences that were not cited, but I think these were original thoughts from the writer. But if they were not original thoughts, it would have been good to have a citation for each.

Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?

  • I thought that everything in the article was relevant to technophilia. There were other terms that were connected to technophilia, and had some relevance.

Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?

  • There article seems to be neutral all the way. I don't think there were any key words used in a persuasion article present in this article, which is good.

Where does the information come from? Are there neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?

  • The reference list contains a dictionary website, other books and academic articles. It seems like the sources may have been used with bias, but I'm not exactly sure.

Check a few citations. Do the links work? Is there any close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article?

  • Some of the citation links worked. But some did not have a link to it in the first place.

Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?

  • The article itself was made a few years ago, so some information may be out of date. But the information regarding to technophilia probably didn't change much since it's a definition and there isn't much to add onto it.

Week 3 (editing the article: Kill Devil Hill (band))

Step1: select article

Step2: evaluate the article for it's strengths and weaknesses;

  • Strengths: Everything seems to be up to date with reliable sources. (After looking for recent news about the band, nothing really came up.)
  • Weaknesses: 2 of the 4 references links do not work.

what might you contribute to make it better?;

  • i might be able to contribute more updated information
  • i might be able to contribute to talking about what they might be doing now (new albums or songs??)
  • if they are planning on performing anywhere soon.

why'd you decide to add something to this article?;

  • the article seems interesting and i want to see if i can find anything else that might be relevant to the topic. A lot of the references seem to have been retrieved from 2014-2015, and was also written around then, so maybe i can find more updated information. The article also shows that the band "Kill Devil Hill" have been active since 2011 and is currently active now.

what did you want to add or correct?

  • i want to try to add in any awards or critic they have received recently.
    • The band performed on MOTORHEAD'S Motorboat in September 2014 and after touring, the band is planning on writing another album with their new member Kelly. [1] The band decided to record at Stagg Street Studios in California with Josh Newell (LINKIN PARK, IN THIS MOMENT). [1]
  • what they are doing right now; if they are making a new album
    • After touring, the band is determined to write another album. [2]
  • member change?
  • why Viinny left
    • It was a mutual agreement that Vinny leave the band in order to commit to other things and projects.[3]

Step3: make your contribution - add 1-2 sentences to your article - cite that statement to a reliable source (textbooks, literature reviews, books or publications written by experts in the field, and published by reliable publisher) ( use your own words!)
