Hello and welcome to my user page

[edit]

My name is Torsten Wittmann. I was born in Villingen (Germany), I have lived a long time in Karlsruhe and, in 2010, moved to Stuttgart, in the West of Germany. I was born in 1953. I am a philologist (German and French literature) but work for a printing company. In this profession I am also traveling often. On vacation I love visiting our neighboring country Austria, for skiing, hiking or swimming in one of the Alpine lakes.

I see myself as an expert on literature in the German and French languages. So don't ask me other things, I will only contribute to literary pages, especially when they speak about German or French writers.

In Karlsruhe, some friends of mine and me have founded a Literature Interest Group. We meet several times per year and talk about the books we read. Sometimes we invite authors and organize public literature lectures. Actually, we are four persons in this group. Since I moved to Stuttgart, unfortunately it became much more difficult to meet, hence we reduced our group activities.

My home Wikipedia is of course the German one. Therefore my contributions to the English Wikipedia are limited to some single chosen authors or areas. During the first years I used the account Torsten Wittmann (Karlsruhe), but since September 2010 I am using this global account. This makes an additional sense since I am not living anymore in Karlsruhe.
