BIOGRAPHIE

Passy Mubalama is a female activist with over ten years of experience in promoting and protecting democracy, human’s rights, good governance and the rule of law. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director for Action and development initiative for the protection of women and children AIDPROFEN a non profit organization which promote human’s rights in North Kivu in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Her key areas of focus are democracy, civic education, youth participation in public affairs and women issues. Her personal experiences monitoring and reporting human’s rights issue from Goma’s Internal displaced population (IDPs) camps inspired her in 2009 to found “AIDPROFEN.” Working directly with communities and using an innovative approach seeking to rebuild the torn social fabric in Goma’s IDP populations by giving voice to the voiceless population.

In 2014 she participated in the Mandela Washington fellowship for young African leaders Initiative a flagship program of the president Barak Obama in USA in the Civic leadership Track after being selected among 50000 participants who applied for the program. She successfully accomplished her academic training at the University of Delaware in Civic leadership. In 2015 After her participation in that program she started in Goma, her town an education center on democracy and human’s rights with the support of the National Endowment for democracy NED to promote women’s political participation. In the Center Congolese women and youth have access to education and materials on democracy and human rights. Passy is skilled in human’s rights, child protection, gender issues, and modern communication tools. She holds a degree in Management for Development from the Institut supérieur de l’Informatique et de Gestion in Goma and a Certificate in human right from the Canadian human rights organization EQUITAS in Montreal Canada.

AIDPROFEN is a registered non profit organization that I co-founded in 2009 • As the coordinator, I lead the team and define the program, write proposals and develop the program on promoting and protecting democracy, human rights, good governance and the rule of law in my organization • AIDPROFEN has experience promoting human rights with a focus on women’ rights

Through different project implemented by AIDPROFEN, I was able to gain experience by • Promoting and protecting women’s rights • Monitoring of human’s rights violation and Advocacy work with local authorities to advocate for women’s rights • Engaging women and girls in civic engagement, • Providing training on how to be politically involved through various activities, and • Organized exchange meetings with women and girls on how to better engaged in politics, having influence and access to decision making positions. • I frequently work with local authorities and communities for advocacy works to support women and youth participation in public affairs in North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Washington fellowship for young African leaders (June, July and Aout 2014) Passy recently participated in the Washington fellowship for young African Leaders Initiative a flagship program of the president Barak Obama in USA in the Civic leadership Track at the university of Delaware after being selected among approximatly 50 000 Youth who applied in this program in 2014. During her experience Passy had the privilege to visit 5 States in USA, New York, New jersey, Philadelphia, Delaware and Washington DC Where she met the President of the United State of America Barak Obama, the First Lady Michelle Obama and many members of the Us Department of States.
