I live in California and plan to add, edit, and update articles about local information. I'm especially interested in the geography, parks, open spaces, and nature in the area.

Questions

[edit]
  • What is the policy on adding articles for public parks and beaches to Wikipedia? On the one hand these are notable destinations and are deserving of some commentary and descriptions. On the other hand, maybe the parks department is the right place to host that information. But what about when they don't do that as effectively as they could, or in the way that some members of the public would prefer?
  • When creating a new article, what is the minimum amount of information that is needed? Is there some ground work that should be done with other editors?
  • I would like to contribute photographs. When is appropriate to do so? What in an article indicates that it needs a photo? Are modern smartphone pictures high enough quality? How do I strip out the exif?
