Vrachasi Tunnel

Vrachasi tunnel(ελληνικά: Σήραγγα Βραχασίου)is a road tunnel located in national road 90.The tunnel is considered as the first national road tunnel in greece even though other road tunnels in Greek mainland and Crete are even older.

Construction

The construction took place in a gorge south of Vrachasi village in Crete. During the first stages of planning the new national road 90 the tunnel wasn't appeared.The first palns for the tunnel were back in 1964.The construction of the tunnel started in 1971 and the tunnel completed in 1973.
