Early Life

Jonathan was born November 18, 2000. He is the son of Andrey and Natasha Geva and started fencing by the age of 6 years old. His father is the founder of Alliance Fencing Academy in 2004 and runs it with Sergey Danilov. In 2016, Andrey was selected as the Olympic coach for the women's team where they trained in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jonathan's mom helps to run Alliance and is a house mom.

Fencing Career

When he started to compete in 2010, at the age of 8, for Y10, he got 10th in the 1st North American Cup, and 18th in the second one. He competed in the age group above getting 44th in the first North American cup and 48th in the second one for Y12. The year after, he went even further participating in Y10, Y12, and Y14. In Y10, he earned the gold for the last two North American Cups including Summer Nationals and then aged up to Y12. In Y12, Jonathan placed 15 in the first North American Cup of the season and 34th in the second. In Y14, he placed 28th for the first North American Cup of the season. He also attended 2 World Cups, both Klagenfurt and the Copenhagen circuits, where only the top 20 American fencers for the age group go to a world cup. After this, he placed 15 in Division 1 at the December Cup. In the July American Cup, he placed 9th in cadet. At Summer Nationals, he placed 5th. He received a bronze in the November North American Cup. Lastly, for 2014, he earned a gold in the October American cup for cadet and gold in the North American Cup in March. In 2015, he placed 49th in the Klagenfurt World Cup for cadet. At his first cadet world championship, he placed 40th. Cadet World Championship consists of the 3 top fencers on the points list. For Division 1, he placed 29 in the October Cup, 17th in the July Challenge, and 16th for the North American Cup in December. For the July Challenge, he placed 13th in cadet. In junior for the North American cup, he took 8th place and in cadet he received bronze. At summer nationals, he took bronze and he took gold in the April North American Cup. As a 2nd year Y14, he took gold in the Helsinki world cup. In the beginning of 2016, Jonathan placed received gold in the Grenoble World Cup. He also received gold and silver in the Klagenfurt and Grenoble World cups, respectively. He also placed 6th at the Bratislava World Cup and 9th at the Klagenfurt World Cups in individual. Jonathan also placed 15th in the Luxembourg Junior World Cup and 49th in the Basel World Cup. In 2017, Jonathan received a gold in Division 1 for North America, a gold in the Bratislava team event, a bronze in the Cadet World Championships, and a bronze in the Heraklion Junior World Cup individual event. Currently Jonathan stands 2nd in the Junior points list and is on Junior World Team and will attend the Junior World Cup and for Junior Team points, he stands first. For Senior Men's individual points, Jonathan is currently at 15th place for Senior Points and for Senior Team points, he stands at 14th place
