Inclusionism

[edit]

I was worried that I might be inventing a word, but Inclusionism appears to be a real term!
I am a new pages patroller. My primary focus for this task is the removal of vandalism and articles that appear blatantly inconsistent with guidelines on notability. I always try to assume good faith and therefore tend to use the Proposed for Deletion process in preference to the more aggressive speedy deletion process.

If I have tagged your article as Proposed for Deletion, you may be surprised that I consider myself an inclusionist. Remember that using the PROD process, articles must tagged as Proposed for Deletion for seven days before deletion occurs, and any editor can halt the process by removing the PROD tag. I acknowledge that my assessment of the notability of an article may not be correct and it is not my approach to further challenge that a particular article should be deleted, once a PROD tag has been removed.

So why do I PROD some new articles? If a new article is very brief and the subject doesn't appear to meet notability guidelines I PROD it mainly to challenge the article's editor(s) to think about whether it really is a notable topic. I understand that new articles take time to develop, but given the timeline involved and the ease of halting the process, I consider the PROD process to be non-aggressive.

I am new to patrolling new pages, and this is just my opinion. I would welcome yours on my talk page.
