Gifts (novel)

[edit]

5x expanded by Vanamonde93 (talk). Self-nominated at 11:13, 20 April 2017 (UTC).

  • This article, now a GA, is a five-fold expansion and is long enough and was nominated soon enough. The hook facts are cited to an offline source, the article is neutral and Earwig merely identified some quotations. Good to go. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:43, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Excuse me for saying so, but if I'm not familiar with the second book, why would I be interested in clicking on the first? This is a well-cited article; perhaps you could find something more hooky to say about it? Yoninah (talk) 22:29, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Vanamonde93: thanks for the ALT suggestions. First, if you want to mention Where the Wild Things Are, perhaps you could leave out the author's name, which just seems to weigh it down, and probably more people will know the book title than the author. Then you could go with your first hook:
  • ALT4: ... that the emotional journey of the protagonist in the 2004 Ursula K. Le Guin novel Gifts has been compared to that of Max in the 1963 children's picture book Where the Wild Things Are?
  • Alternately, I like ALT3; I tweaked the hook so it made more sense. ALT3 hook ref verified and cited inline. Yoninah (talk) 20:52, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
  • I'm fine with either, I guess this is the promoter's call. Vanamonde (talk) 16:20, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
  • OK, but first I have to approve the alts. I struck ALT2 because the source (and the article) compares the protagonist to Max and Jonah, not the book. ALT3 hook ref verified and cited inline. I shortened ALT0 to create ALT4; the hook ref for ALT4 is AGF and cited inline. Rest of review per Cwmhiraeth. Leaving it up to promoter to choose between ALT3 and ALT4.
