Usage

[edit]

This does what it says on the bottle. It is a wrapper around {{Cite book}} which fills out some of those fields. It also allows some additional parameters to be passed in (see Cite book: documentation for more details):

  • chapter=chapter name — useful for the name of a parliament (see below)
  • chapterurl=URL — to link to the first page in the book of a parliament
  • chapter-url=URL — an alternative name for chapterurl
  • pages=pagenumbers or page=page number — Required for a full citaion:
  • ref=harv — This parameter is used to link this template to the templates {{sfn}} {{harvnb}} or {{harv}} when they are used in short citations and this template is placed in a general references section
  • mode=cs1 — This parameter defaults to "cs1" but can be changed to "cs2" as used by {{citation}} see Help:CS1#Display options
  • postscript=character — This standard parameter is used to alter the character used as a postscript. The default is a dot "." postscript=none for none (as used in {{citation}})

The template takes one additional parameter called "part". Part can be set to:

  • part=1 or part=I
  • part=2 or part=II

Part affect the presentation of the template. If part is set then the title changes to

Notitia Parliamentaria, Part I: Containing an Account of the First Returns and Incorporations of the Cities, Towns and Broughs, in England and Wales, That send Members to Parliament; ...

or

Notitia Parliamentaria, Part II: A Series or Lists of the Representatives in the several Parliaments held from the Reformation 1541, to the Restoration 1660 ...

and if the parameter "page=" or "pages=" is set the Google Books URL will link to the (first) page in the correct part of the book.
