In the third example it is stated that the serial number is a 32-bit number. Which system is being described? GUID ? And somewhere on this page it might be good to qualify "In computing science...." Cheers 162.106.6.3 (talk) 00:10, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Calculation not valid for Windows XP

I don't know when and how things have changed, but I find the DOS formula in reference [2] is not being applied in Windows XP, as I can see many volume serial numbers much greater than would be possible with that formula.212.77.163.101 (talk) 08:55, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
