Start classification

[edit]

I have classified the article as a start. It needs expansion on Gómez's musical career, a picture or pictures and an infobox. Capitalistroadster 20:50, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The other three Tito Gómezes exist or existed, even if they do not have Wikipedia articles yet. Anthony Appleyard 09:01, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree with Anthony. Going just from Google results the Cuban painter and the Argentine actor (1920-2000) are very competitive with the Puerto Rican salsa singer (1948-2007) in terms of hits. They may well deserve their own articles, when someone has time to write them. On Google it seems there may also be a Cuban singer of that name. EdJohnston 15:52, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • If they are notable why don't have articles? If these other people named Tito Gomez are so notable then create articles on them and the disambiguation will be needed. Do you know how many people named Ryan Smith are in this world that could probably claim notability? If we started naming articles for every possible Ryan Smith that may claim some notability, then might as well start doing this for every article. — Moe ε 04:29, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In the future there may be a Tito Gómez (Cuban singer), if he turns out to be sufficiently notable. His full name was José Antonio Tenreiro Gómez (1922 - 2002 ?) and he claimed to be the inventor of the cha-cha (per Google search). EdJohnston 03:23, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - I don't think articles should be preemptively disambiguated in this way, and there's certainly no need to disambiguate by occupation and nationality when this is the only article! If another Tito Gomez article is written in the future, then this one can be moved again as necessary. PC78 07:50, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - the two Cuban Titos now have articles. (PS Moe - were really claiming that Wikipedia is now complete ? That there are no further articles to create ? ) -- Beardo 21:33, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
