Seated image

The article states:

"In front of the temple is a seated Vishnu image in yoga asana position with serpent hood above the head, similar to seated Tirthankaras and the Buddha."

It does not look like a Vishnu image. Two hands, no ornaments except a cap-like crown. It looks like a Buddhist image. There is a eighth century CE (on paleographic grounds) Sanskrit inscription on the building mentioning about the visit of UmaDeva of Kanyakubja, son of Samanya Bhatta, to pay his devotion at the temple of Setabhadra. This image is probably of a local god Setabhadra (Svetabhara, a yaksha mentioned in Jain, Buddhist and Puranic texts). See
