Removal

[edit]
  • I've removed this sentence from the article: "Talbot was the family name of the English Earls of Shrewsbury." I can see how this might be related to the breed (perhaps they were first bred by the Talbot family) but the article does not make that explicit and I am not knowledgable enough to make that logical leap on the article page. In the box (tab), shouldn't the country of origin be "Normandy" or "France" instead of Britain, since Normandy is where William the Conquerer brought it from?12.40.34.150 19:34, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is another instance where a statement of origin predates the formation of the country, eg. Ardennes, Belgium and Earl of Shrewsbury, "Great Britain", would have been France and England.
Mac Barwick lists some references from France, but none that predate 1066. Hence "Normandy" and "William the Conqueror is credited" needs a genuine reference, since I believe this to be hear-say, rather than fact. Sanft 12:01, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hills family crest

[edit]

I propose removing the sentence "the talbot dog coat of arm is a the hills falily crest". It is not relevant in the External Links section and it is anyway too vague to be useful - there must be many Hills families with different crests. Tom714uk (talk) 09:41, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
