Dubious

[edit]

There was a dubious tag added for the distance, but no discussion here. Any reasons for the tag? Newystats (talk) 00:16, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have a copy of the souvenir programme that was issued when the film of the expedition was shown in the cinema. It is undated but I think is from 1927. The front cover says "Major Court Treatt's 12,732 Miles Motor Adventure". Also, a publicity leaflet issued by Crossley Motors states "Cape to Cairo is roughly 7,000 miles as the crow flies. As the Expedition was compelled to travel, approximately 13,000 miles were covered. This was due to the many detours which were found necessaryin order to avoid stretches which were absolutely impassable." Malcolma (talk) 16:02, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've replaced the figure, which seems well-enough established in the secondary literature,[1] and added a little footnote. Mr leroy playpus (talk) 23:18, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
