Chaz

[edit]

Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biographies, "If a person is named in an article in which they are not the subject, they should be referred to by the name they were using at the time of the mention rather than a name they may have used before or after the mention." So Sonny had a child named Chastity (later Chaz), and was survived by Chastity. Kendall-K1 (talk) 12:42, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The personal details chart where it says "(including Chaz Bono)". It sounds odd to me. Isn't it obvious that Chaz is included? Why wouldn't he be? I mean, his surname is BONO. 63.92.241.249 (talk) 20:24, 14 June 2016 (UTC) Darwin[reply]

It seems ok to me. Can you suggest alternate wording? Kendall-K1 (talk) 22:08, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would've omitted it entirely. It sounds like a Captain Obvious statement. It's like saying: "The USA has 50 states (including New York & Ohio)."

It's pretty well known who Chaz's father is, so it seems silly to make a special note of it. 63.92.241.249 (talk) 03:06, 20 June 2016 (UTC) Darwin[reply]

I'm sorry for being dense, but I just don't understand what you're saying. This article is about Sonny Bono, not Chaz. How is it obvious that one of his children is Chaz? That field in the infobox is for listing children, why would we omit the one who apparently is notable? The documentation for this field says, "Only if independently notable themselves or particularly relevant. Number of children (e.g., three or 3), or list of names if notable, in which case, separate entries using {{Plainlist}} or {{Unbulleted list}}. For privacy reasons, consider omitting the names of children of living persons, unless notable." It seems to me that's what we've done? Kendall-K1 (talk) 03:18, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, got it. Now I understand. It just looked odd to me. Feel free to delete this conversation if you want to. 63.92.241.249 (talk) 00:56, 11 August 2016 (UTC) Darwin[reply]

There is a difference between "using a different name" and being trans. It is common within the trans community to NOT use birthnames when referring to someone before they transition. On both Laura Jane Grace and Caitlyn Jenner's pages, they are referred to with her pronouns even before they transitioned. Therefore, Chaz, should be referred to as Chaz Bono, nee Chastity,

Grauduate from High School

[edit]

He attended Inglewood High School, "but did not graduate". Do American school students graduate from school? Isn't that just for universities (as it is in other countries)?Royalcourtier (talk) 02:23, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

People do graduate from high school in the US. Irishpolitical (talk) 13:38, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Resturant Business

[edit]

Sony Owned a restaurant business in Houston Texas called Bono's in the mid 1980s on Woodway Drive. I know as I took my secretary at the time there for lunch for Secretaries Day. Now Administrative Assistant's Day. My Admin asked the waiter if Sonny was there that day and if so would he come out and sing, the waiter dead panned. - "God, I hope not. " Funniest line I ever heard about Sonny. Love the guy but not the greatest voice. 96.79.166.1 (talk) 22:29, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was a chain. He had at least one other in West Hollywood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:6AE5:2510:0:0:0:40 (talk) 21:06, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
