Why this article should remain on Wikipedia.

[edit]

The International Soling Class was from 1969 till 2000 one of the IOC Olympic diciplines. Now it is still one of the International sailing classes that is world wide sailed.

World, and continental championships in the Soling are and always were of mayor importance in World Sailing.

The construction of the articles on the Soling Championships is as follows:

  • A main page describing the event thru the year that contains:
    • The background of the event
    • The list of venues tru out the years
    • The Medal table that scores the countries thu out the years
    • The list of medalists per venue (top 3)
  • A page with all the venues with information on the venues and as well contains the final results. Because the event is held (almost) every year since 1969 it contains over 50 venues. Therefor this page was broken in to pages per decade otherwise the page became too long according to Wikipedia standards.
    • 1969 - 1979
    • 1980 - 1989
    • 1990 - 1999
    • 2000 - 2009
    • 2010 - 2019
    • 2020 - 2029 in the making

I can nowhere find that Historic sports facts are not welcome on Wikipedia. Specially when the sport is an Olympic one. Also other sports like Football (e.g. CONCACAF), Rowing, Tennis and many other sports are documented in to detail results and up to the level of the individual participants. There is no difference when it comes to Sailing.

All pages are well referenced mostly from multiple sources Like World Sailing, the International Soling Association articles from newspapers and so on.

Furthermore the page is within the scope of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sailing

So i see no reason to delete these pages. Dragon Genoa (talk) 10:57, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
