Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that social patriotism be merged into social chauvinism. The terms appear to have similar enough uses and origins to be nigh synonymous. Also, social chauvinism is flagged for notability, and this would be resolved by a merger. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CasualStructure (talkcontribs) 21:04, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A merge seems reasonable, but I suggest merging in the other direction on the grounds that Social patriotism is the broader (and less opinionated) title. For example, the lede of Social chauvinism described it as aggressive or fanatical patriotism, particularly during time of war, in support of one's own nation; in this sense, it is an extreme form of patriotism. As a subset, that page should be merged to the broader topic. Klbrain (talk) 09:33, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
