Date of birth

[edit]

The source right after the DOB doesn't actually mention the date. What reliable source does verify it? —C.Fred (talk) 13:57, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just skimmed through the first half dozen refs and didn't see it verified in the English-language sources. --Ronz (talk) 14:50, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I Want to Add a recent legit Image of the following Actor Named Sakib Khan. It is actually an appropriate request to make as of we know that an Image of an intellectual person is very much needed wherein the Article is made on his name. Therefore my request is to Add a recent Legit Image of the Actor Sakib Khan. Pagol.Dpi (talk) 14:43, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove his height, as there is no source provided for his height being 6'0"/1.82 m. Vozhan 02:20, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Rather than remove subject's height, a source was found depicting it as 6'2"/1.88m. Thank you very much! P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 20:05, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About redirect

[edit]

By the initialism "SK" of his name, he is very popular in the country. It is very important to use this term (SK redirect) to find this article. Expect feedback on this. নবাব (talk) 16:59, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@নবাব: I have reverted the redirect from SK to this article. You would need to get a consensus at Talk:SK that this actor's name is the primary topic for this abbreviation. I do not believe that it is, but the talk page for SK is the place to discuss it. --bonadea contributions talk 08:10, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion for selection as a feature or good article

[edit]

@Masum Ibn Musa Bhai, is this article eligible for Good or Feature article selection? নবাব (talk) 14:32, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Before that, I propose to split and shorten the article. The article is too long and it will be beneficial to split into different parts. Mehedi Abedin 19:45, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mehediabedin bhai, which part or section. Please suggest me or you can do as well. নবাব (talk) 13:24, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@নবাব Career section can be a separate article. Mehedi Abedin 13:35, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mehediabedin I also thought. But there is no problem keeping the Career section big.  Examples would be articles on Messi, Ronaldo, Shah Rukh Khan or other stars. নবাব (talk) 13:42, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@নবাব Almost bro but not yet fulfill.  Masum Ibn Musa  Conversation 13:18, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Masum Ibn Musa bhai, suggest me নবাব (talk) 13:25, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mehediabedin and @Masum Ibn Musa, Is it possible to emerge a new article with Shakib Khan's career section? নবাব (talk) 19:09, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To me, it is possible. Mehedi Abedin 19:27, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mehediabedin, What could be the name of this article? Film career of Shakib Khan, Acting career of Shakib Khan? নবাব (talk) 04:12, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think Career of Shakib Khan should be enough. Mehedi Abedin 09:35, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • oppose split. I agree that Shakib Khan is too long. The proposal to split the career section into articles Film career of Shakib Khan and Acting career of Shakib Khan (or just Career of Shakib Khan) is not the solution. We should follow the model of the featured article about actor John Gielgud, where every subsection of his career starts with a hatnote directing readers seeking details to the list article about his works (in this case it would be the existing list Shakib Khan filmography). The reason Shakib Khan is too long is that most of the career section is a list masquerading as prose. Consider a single year, 2002, picked at random:

He started 2002 with Enayet Karim's action Juddhe Jabo,[1] Shahidul Alam Khokon's action drama Mukhoshdhaari, which written by National Film Award winning director Kazi Morshed, co-starring Masum Parvez Rubel, Humayun Faridi and Sadika Parvin Popy[2] and Helal Khan-production action romance Juari, directed by AQ Khokon, along with Helal Khan himself and Sadika Parvin Popy.[3] Helal Khan won the National Film Award for Best Actor in Negative Role for the film.[4][5] His three more films were released in February, which are Anwar Chowdhury Jibon's action Pagla Baba,[6] action drama Boba Khuni, directed by Shahadat Hossain Badshah,[7] and PA Kajol's action drama Vondo Ojha.[8] His two films also released in April with a break in March. One is Ahmed Nasir's Uttejito and another one is Aziz Mohammad Bhai-produced Bhoyonkor Porinam, directed by Mustafizur Rahman Babu.[9] The following month, he paired up with Dilara Hanif Purnima and Humayun Faridi in Abu Sufian's action Hingshar Poton.[10] He teamed up with Enayet Karim with action drama Lohar Shikol in July. He appeared another female-centric with Munmun in action Kholnayika, and shared screen with Moushumi for the first time in FI Manik's family-drama Strir Morjada, played as a Police official in August. In September, his three films were released, they are Abu Musa Debu's drama Mayer Jihad,[11] Shawkat Jamil's action Dassu and romance comedy Porena Chokher Palak with Ratna Kabir Sweety directed Mohammad Hannan respectively.[12] His next month released was twice, Azadi Hasnat Firoz's romance Sobar Upore Prem, co-starring Shabnur and Ferdous Ahmed[13] and Enayet Karim's action Moron Nishan.[14] Shahadat Hossain Liton's action O Priya Tumi Kothay, which named after a song of the same name sung by Asif Akbar,[15] was his last film of the year with a break in November.

Despite all the words, it doesn't tell the reader anything about Shakib Khan beyond what they would know about him by reading the 19 rows in his filmography for 2002. Contrast this with the four sentences that describe John Gielgud's 12 works between 1950 and 1952. They tell us which work was an inflection point for his career, what he did well, what he did poorly, and the nature of his performance. That's only possible, of course, because the sources are secondary sources, whereas all the sources for Shakib Khan's 2002 work are primary. BMDB, since it says it has copied from Wikipedia without attribution, must be considered circular, so it isn't even a reliable source.
The solution to the overly long Shakib Khan is not to split the content into any new article, but to throw away the list-as-prose content derived from primary sources. The relevant information is already in Shakib Khan filmography as a list. --Worldbruce (talk) 17:39, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to clean up this article?

[edit]

Currently, 84% of this article was written by নবাব (talk · contribs), a blocked WP:SPA account, likely WP:UPE. With less that 7000 edits total, I don't see anything in this editor's history that suggests an understanding of BLP, NOT, POV, RS, etc. Before নবাব's first edit here on 8 March 2020 the article was little more than a list his films.

While I appreciate that new editors are interested in working on the article, it needs to be done in a manner where others can see review what's being done. Small edits with clear edit summaries are necessary.

If there's any general consensus that can help us in reviewing the references, it would be helpful to note. WP:BANGLADESH has a list of references that may be helpful. --Hipal (talk) 02:50, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
